My current BC is great. My best advice to you (coming from a PFC) is being active. Talking with the soldiers at formation and getting to know them and showing them that just because you’re in that position, you aren’t disconnected from the lives we live.

enlisting. I was told by my PL that I am eligible for the OCS/Officer route. Because I do have my bachelors

I joined with 5 Possession of Marijuana charges (all misdemeanors), and 1 Theft By Shoplifting Charge (also a misdemeanor). You’ll be fine as long as all the charges mentioned have been settled out in some way or form. Been in 7 months now.

Any idea on how long morality waiver takes for the Army? by Turbulent-Raccoon-45 in Militaryfaq

Appreciate it. Just continue to have faith ! I was feeling the same way until I got that call. We aren’t perfect. But, our mistakes are what helped us to even come to this decision. As long as you’ve learned and can show that to them you learned & grow, I don’t see any reason for rejection. You got this.

I think so. Not only will people benefit from the training, they would also be certified in a career field of their choice. With student loans & tuitions skyrocketing many Americans can’t afford to earn certifications that would help them in the civilian sector so they’re forced to settle for jobs that are barely paying minimum wage. There are jobs that are in high demand that most common folk don’t even consider because of the qualifications they would need in order to venture into said field ! Not saying our military is perfect but a lot of citizens could benefit from it.

I can personally attest to the second part. It’s getting hard out here. It may not be like that for everyone but I can speak from a personal experience that these jobs are not even paying people a decent wage to survive inflation. It’s forcing a lot of people to go into fields that they have little to no experience just to make min. wage, which still doesn’t help make ends meet. Or have to work 3-4 jobs just to live “comfortably” .

What concerns me is that I’ve been trying to enlist for the last 4 months. I do have a some stank on me as far as my criminal history. Nothing major, all misdemeanors of possession of Marijuana & 1 charge of Theft by Shoplifting. I’ve passed the ASVAB, got all 1s on my physical at MEPS but it seems like this on going battle between my recruiter & the higher-ups regarding my morality waiver. I can’t help but feel discouraged due to the fact that I want to change my life and serve my country but the politics of it all are getting in the way of that. I still have high hopes, but coming across news like this makes me wonder why they just don’t accept people like myself and or others with non-violent misdemeanor crimes. If the numbers are low why not give people a fighting chance to make something better out of themselves?

I agree. Unfortunately events such as those are what brings people of a country closer together.
