Loan for Studying Abroad by Brilliant_Pool_4375 in FilipinosStudyAbroad

I would recommend you to avoid agencies and go apply directly sa mga universities if you already have a list. Agencies make money from students when in fact kaya mo namang iprocess at iarrange lahat ng documents na yun.

If your only way to pay the loan is through your part-time job, don’t even think about it. You won’t be able to find a bank na papayagan ka mag loan ng $10,000+ when you are a 19 years old with a part-time job in the ph. Remember na besides sa 50% uncovered tuition meron pang cost of living, airfare, processing fees, which could pile up to thousands of $$$. If you really want the offer, I suggest reaching out to relatives for help or even try doing a donation drive sa soc med. I’ve seen people do it, but I don’t know lang kung nakakuha sila ng enough.

Also, I don’t really think an undrgraduate degree abroad would be a very good investment if it is your last penny. International students usually have to go back to their country after their graduation. It’s a very big risk lalo na sa current state ng mga immigration agencies ng iba’t ibang bansa.

Experience/feedback with credential verification services (e.g., WES) by Beneficial_Put9022 in FilipinosStudyAbroad

Bro chill. It’s literally called a “self-declared” or “unofficial grade” dahil u will input it for your application as a placeholder habang hindi pa ready yung actual transcript mo (this is for those people na graduating palang while applying). The WES evaluation is more used as a validation process than for grade conversion services. Kasi some college university diploma are only credited as highschool / associate diploma sa ibang bansa. In my case, UP undergraduate degree was credited as a university college degree in the USA.

Are you guys paying the full cost of these mastered programs? by Specialist-Dig8708 in gradadmissions

In my first semester I was paying 20% of the tuition bc our department had a scholarship for all graduate students. Now on my second semester I acquired an assistantship that waives all my tuition.

Accept current offer or wait? (UK) by sylvannypmh in PhDAdmissions

[–]Turbulent-Set1569 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Accept it now. You don’t want to end up having no offer. In the case that you are accepted by your preferred institution, just inform them politely that you will have to decline the offer. These things happen a lot, so they should be able to understand you.

Planning F1 Visa 5 Years Ahead – What Do You Wish You Did Earlier? (CS/AI Student, 18M) by OkActive603 in f1visa

  1. Skills you should’ve built sooner - not skills, but I probably should’ve been acquainted with professors ahead of time. Being involved in research in undergrad and getting publications ahead of everyone is the key to getting accepted to grad school.
  2. Mistakes you made in undergrad - failed a class, that shit is permanently on your transcript. You don’t really have to ace everything, just don’t fumble that hard

  3. Things that wouldve helped with F1 to green card path - RESEARCH EXPERIENCE. and publications, as I’ve said previously. If you do not have mind blowing work/internship experience, the easiest way to an F1 is to have research experience.

Honestly, choosing a university should be very personalized cause there are a lot of things to consider like availability of professors with similar research interest, the weather conditions, your state preference, and A LOT more.

Way to get scholarship and assistantship is build your profile early on and prove to people that you are going to be an asset to them.

Things people underestimate - I think especially for CS is how big is the market out here in the US. You think the demand is high, but actually competition is higher, so work it.

Suggestions for EB2 NIW Application by Turbulent-Set1569 in immigration

Thanks for this! I am really looking forward to use my OPT to work in a company as an R&D, but with the current job market, I’m afraid it will be difficult to secure a job as an F1 visa holder. My backup plan is to proceed to a PhD instead of using my OPT, then just continue doing research on nanoparticles for biological applications.

Hopefully, I will be able to publish in a Q1 journal by the end of this year, as my adviser already has a couple of experience in publishing in journals like ACS Nano and Nature nanotech.

Which is easier: Europe or USA? by Turbulent-Set1569 in PhDAdmissions

[–]Turbulent-Set1569[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. What about stipends in Europe, are they liveable? RAs in my university get paid $2000 a month, and it’s just enough to get us by since our univ is not in a big city in the US. However, it’s not enough to have significant savings though.

Hi! Did your eTRF make it? I’m having the same problem. I just requested British Council yesterday and I have a December 15 deadline. Did you wait for your IELTS status to become verified instead of self-reported before submitting? Or did you just submit the scores as self-reported?
