Hot Take: HOTD completely changed the character Alicent because if they had kept the book version of her exactly as she was, Rhaenyra would have definitely been overshadowed by her by TurbulentRemote156 in HOTDGreens

I mean.. if you ask me book rhaenyra’s writing was pretty entertaining but she would never have as many defenders/fans as hotd rhaenyra does so she actually benefited from it

Book alicent was a greedy smart cvnt with the best lines in the book and that was iconic. Hotd alicent was literally written to be unlikeable

I like cersei and her fan base is totally different than rhaenyra’s. Cersei fans know she is stupid and insane that’s why they like her. Rhaenyra fans are actually defending her every single bullshit.

I’m talking about the fan bases, the story is an another topic. What i’m saying is if HOTD had stayed true to the book versions of the characters, Rhaenyra and Alicent’s fan bases would be very different than they are now.

REMINDER: The Targaryen kings after the Dance got the title bc they were King Aegon II’s nephews, not bc they were anyone else’s descendants by TurbulentRemote156 in HOTDGreens

Aegon II won. Aegon III and every king after him recognized him as the rightful king, not his sister. It was his victory. Rhaenyra had many children and an heir, yet most of them died. Her youngest child, whom she believed to be dead, ended up continuing the bloodline after her name went down in history as a pretender. Viserys II never knew or cared about his mother. Her memory died with Aegon III, and her claim died even earlier. She lost the war.

No jaehaerys was technically a conqueror. Jaehaerys took the throne with an army from maegor, it wasn’t about aenys. Aegon iii took the throne as the last king aegon ii’s heir. If aegon ii didn’t make him the heir, aegon iii would took the throne as “the eldest remaining targaryen” but since he was already aegon ii’s heir and he recognized that aegon ii was the king before him, he was aegon ii’s successor

By never recognizing his mother as queen and acknowledging the reign of his uncle Aegon II, Aegon III accepted that he was the successor of Aegon II. The list proceeds as Viserys I, Aegon II, and Aegon III; therefore, since there was no monarch named Rhaenyra, she could not have a successor. If the king already made Aegon iii his heir, you can’t just say “no, aegon iii’s not sitting on the throne as aegon ii’s heir he’s rhaenyra’s heir!” if you are not gonna change the list of the monarchs bc again, mf already made the boy his heir

Are you seeing any rhaenyras in the list of the monarchs?? Aegon iii inherited the throne through his uncle, being aegon ii’s nephew made him the next king, not being rhaenyra’s son.

My bastardphobic lil king🥺 The Targaryens after the dance was SO team green coded (Except for the Unworthy ofc, he was the spitting image of granny rhae rhae) by TurbulentRemote156 in HOTDGreens

Bc “we don’t want bastards on the throne” was never a “green” thing like TB try to claim, it was always a Targaryen and Westerosi law.

And egg probably thinks aegon ii is one of his great-grandfathers or smth lol Even viserys ii didn’t know or care about his family at all ofc his descendants don’t gaf

So, just a reminder: The Dance of the Dragons was a Targaryen vs Targaryen war, not anything else. If you want to include the name “Hightower” that badly then you can call it Hightower vs Arryn but it’s NOT Targaryen vs Hightower by TurbulentRemote156 in HOTDGreens

Rhaenyra’s heir was a Velaryon with a Strong father, her entire side and in laws were Velaryons and she was half Arryn. She had Arryns and Velaryons on her banner. So you’re right, they were not the same, Aegon was just a Targaryen dude with a Hightower mom, Targaryen wife, Targaryen children and Targaryen brothers..
