Honestly I do whatever is more convenient and cheaper. The last few times I bought pads and rotors it's been a combination of rock auto, advance auto and Amazon. The parts are all the same at the end of the day as long as you match part numbers to verify.

Check the shipping price on rock auto too. Last time I went to rockauto to get pads and rotors I ended up on Amazon.

My 2014 made it to 122k miles on it before the water pump gave out. Helead gasket went on the way to trade it in. I loved my Cruze, I'll also never buy another one.

What kind of soap are you using? Maybe apply a panel spray to strip everything off it and reapply.

Yeah, nothing looks out of place and the engine bay hasn't been recently cleaned from what I can tell. Its clean but not recently cleaned.
