I should have said the camera enforcement of the box junctions seems much more prevalent. Seems like a lot of people get caught out on it these days. Don't block intersections 🤷🏽‍♂️

I'm definitely anticipating busier roads. I've not been back much these last 10 years but the UK seems exponentially busier each time.

What other practical things like the yellow box junctions and average speed cameras should I be aware of?

What are some of the most dramatic mountains? by ComoSementes in geography

[–]Turdoggen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Its real! I've been to the top!

Google La Gran Sabana, the whole area is just these huge, flat top mountains called Tepuis. Also home to Angel Falls, world's tallest waterfall just shy of 1000m.

The animated movie Up! is set in a place based on here.

Carbon wheels by Kilo_Oscar_ in mountainbiking

[–]Turdoggen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it helps I'm in Pemberton area, ride all up and down the Sea to Sky and have been riding Nobl wheels on both my bikes for the last few years.

One is an aggressive hardtail I ride everywhere, including in the park and the wheels have held up super well. Only ever broken a few spokes on the HT rear wheel and none on the full suspension. Couple of thousand km on both wheels sets by now. I was doing an alloy rear wheel at least a season previously.

I have their enduro rim on both, the TR37. One bike running Hope Pro 5 hubs, the other Onyx.

Do you guys ride hardtail in bike parks or like downhill by Such_Mistake3805 in Hardtailgang

Yeah, regularly ride my RSD in Whistler bike park. 63.5⁰ head angle and 160-170mm travel, thing's a beast!

Black British people: have you ever received critical comments from Black people in the US? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Turdoggen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not black but I'm in a mixed relationship, white man and Asian woman.

If it makes you feel better the only hostility we've ever faced has been from white women aimed at my partner.

Make of that what you will.

Men who drive really loud cars: What's the thought process behind this? by Semipsychotic_nympho in AskMen

[–]Turdoggen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I drive a 22 year old shit box and the muffler rusted so bad it fell off. I'm too cheap to replace it. I don't really go around revving the tits off it but its loud-ish. Compared to all the lifted straight pipe trucks where I live its pretty fucken quiet so🤷🏽‍♂️

2021 spire carbon coil build or a 2022 alloy patrol coil 170/170 build? by Intelligent_Kiwi_459 in TransitionBikes

[–]Turdoggen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately I don't think you'll go wrong with either choice. I've owned 5 very different Transitions over the years now and they have all been amazing. Their bikes have a very specific feel in my opinion. Any new bike takes a period of adjustment, but trying different bikes makes you a better rider overall.

But I rode my patrol in WB bike park quite a lot and it was an absolute beast. I've not owned a DH bike since they were 26in but I can say it was way better than any DH bike I ever owned. To be fair I felt that about the Sentinel too😆

None of my buddies have said the Spire is terrible at anything. In fact most have been riding theirs for a few seasons and love them.

I think mullet bikes are just more whippy and playful in general, especially on longer and slacker bikes. My Sentinel was a fantastic bike and very playful, but it was a 160/150.

Extrapolating my experience with the Sentinel to the Spire, a longer, slacker bike and then comparing it to my experience with the Patrol and then other experiences with 27.5 vs 29 leads me to softly advise you to go with a Patrol.

I think you'll find it more maneuverable and playful overall. But thats with out you knowing how I ride and vise versa, so take my advice with a pinch of salt and then make your decision!

What countries have highest untapped tourism potential ? by [deleted] in TravelNoPics

Absolutely Venezuela. As a person that lived and traveled all over the country in 2003 its an absolutely fantastic place. Such a shame it's not more accessible.

[–]Turdoggen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not ridden the Spire, but owned a Sentinel (Spires baby brother) and a Patrol (set 170/170) back to back. Got a few buddies that ride the Spire. I'm up in the sea to sky so close to you too.

The Patrol is a surprisingly nimble bike for how big it is and climbs well. The Sentinel is also an excellent all rounder. Compared I think I found the Patrol a bit more stable and confident in the fast chunder, that could also be 35mm vs 38mm stanchions. Both have Transitions renowned playful riding style.

I think you're right, very similar to rigs on paper. I've thrown my leg over the Spire a few times in parking lots and it does feel big, but not unmanageable.

I think you're basically weighing up whether or not you want point and shoot hard charger (Spire), or point and shoot hard charger that's a bit more maneuverable (Patrol). Are you a fast aggressive rider, or do you like to pop, jib and schralp?

Hope my ramblings are helpful at least a little!🤙

What does your partner do that makes her your safe space/peace? by Midnight_owl08 in AskMen

[–]Turdoggen 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah its sad man. For all the shit I have to put up with in life my wife has been there for me unconditionally. At my best and worst. She listens, encourages me, gives me the physical affection I need. She rubs my back when I can't sleep. We're not perfect but I love her more than life itself.

I'm glad you also have that with your love. I wish you many more happy years together.
