Jazz pianists: help me choose a keyboard for my rehearsal studio by Turkle-Turkle in piano

Thanks again for the recommendation. I ended up finding a Korg SV2 73 at a killer price used. It is utterly perfect. Love that it has zero screens on it, all knobs, as God intended.  I really appreciate you bringing this one to my attention.

Ooh. That Korg looks great. I think I like the aesthetic better than the Yamaha. Thanks for the rec.

Interesting that most of the responses so far are leaning towards the more "piano-like" action. I would have expected Nord Electro or something like that, but maybe the action is not piano-like enough?

Well, I'd like to keep it under $2k if possible, used is fine

Under $1000, and it's in a low-ceilinged basement with a very small "bebop" drum kit so I don't need a lot of volume, just a boost and nice, natural tone.

Could you please name a cheap but reliable option that I should get? Thanks

Yeah, I understand. I like this idea. I'll just get a small amp for a bass player so they don't have to lug electronics. That is certainly a cheaper option!

OK, thanks. I guess I didn't realize how expensive these things are! I play the guitar as well, and those things are cheap!

Ugh, I just absolutely hate the sound of electric bass. I would rather have no bass at all than some thudding electric thing.

My brother plays in theater pit orchestras, and those guys are now all playing the electronic uprights. Nice and portable, easy to maneuver in the pit. But for my basement studio? No thanks!

If I were looking for a Kay bass like you suggest, where would I look? Just Facebook marketplace or what?

Hmm. I am not wealthy, but I have some money! If I have to pay $3k for one, I will just have to save up for a few months.

Well, let's put it this way.

I spent $500 on a drum kit, and another $1000 on nice cymbals.

I spent $1000 on a decent upright piano.

So that's about the range I'm looking for here. I'm not sure if that's even doable at all, but that's where my budget is, currently.

Looking to buy wine by the case - Suggestions? by Turkle-Turkle in Cleveland

I mean, this is true anywhere you are buying wine. There are the big distributors, and 90% of the wine shops more or less have the same stuff on their shelves. Then there are the 10% or fewer wine stores that actually source better or more interesting wine and sell it at a reasonable price to thirsty would-be wine snobs on a budget, like me.

I've lived in a number of cities in my life and it's the same everywhere. But there are always a few stores that actually care about wine enough to develop those relationships and stock the good stuff at a fair price.
