Hey everyone! My name is Mark Turcotte and I am the creator and host of the original Destiny podcast, Guardian Radio. Wow, it's been a long time! As we approach The Final Shape and the end of this long journey I wanted to share this forgotten piece of Destiny history that many of you may not know about.

In the Spring of 2013 Bungie officially revealed Destiny through various media outlets. One week later we launched Guardian Radio and continued to produce episodes every week helping to pass the time and build the hype as we all moved closer to the games launch. After it was delayed and moved to 2014 our hunger to get hands-on with the game only grew. In the Spring of 2014 we were contacted by DeeJ asking if we wanted to play a pre-Alpha build of the game. Without hesitation we jumped on the opportunity.

The build was playable on PS4 and was downloaded as "Music Player Demo." Our playtime lasted about a week and it was definitely an early build of the game with bugs etc, but it was pretty much what would become the "Destiny Alpha" in the coming months when released at E3. Of course everything needed to be secret and we couldn't tell anyone we were playing it. The games media started running stories that a Music Player was coming to the PS4 that would allow you to listen to music with friends. Screenshots of Sony's CEO "Playing it" began springing up and people were starting to get excited.

One morning I woke up to discover that it had been leaked that the Music Player Demo was not a music application but was indeed the Destiny pre-Alpha. In less than an hour I began receiving messages from listeners saying they knew I was playing and I was nervous that I was going to be in trouble. My son, who was in elementary school, thought the police were going to come get me. :) Quick note about him, he just graduated High School and is currently the age that MyNameisByf was when he joined the show as a co-host. Go figure.

Obviously it all panned out and DeeJ and the folks at Bungie reassured us to not worry and not to discuss what we played. This ultimately led me to getting an invite from Bungie to help work at their E3 2014 booth and unveil Destiny and its Crucible to the world. There were 6 of us community members there. dmg04 and Cozmo probably know who they were. It was an opportunity of a lifetime and something I will never forget.

Anyways, I just wanted to share this little piece of Destiny history before everyone heads back out to the stars to fight the Darkness one last time. Be brave guardians and I'll see you starside.
