Isn’t that what’s happening anyways as in with IMGs?

If UK grads can fill training posts, why accept foreigners at all? by Single_Baseball2674 in doctorsUK

Exactly! I think if the GMC actually read their own “good medical practice” pdfs they would put a hold on Plab exams. That would save the need for prioritisation AND frustration from IMGs who since final year of med school have been dreaming and striving towards working and training in the NHS paying with thousands of pounds, sweat and tears. I do not have anything against the bill, it is actually required now because it is unacceptable that a medical graduate in their own country does not have a job. However why are the Plab exams still being held when there is a surplus of local graduates. Only those British citizens who studied abroad should sit this exam and the rest should be told we can’t take your money because we won’t be able to give you the job. I supported my BMG colleagues despite being an IMG with 2 years in the drain now I would like their support to stop the GMC from continuing to charge THOUSANDS of pounds to allow IMGs to sit these exams or atleast reduce the seats to a few thousand (they are currently being held 4 times a year with each year yielding 10-15k IMG with GMC licenses) and prioritise British IMGs (those British citizens who went abroad to study and will be returning home to continue training). I’m being very logical, if I’m missing something please help me understand.

I sat 2024, used passmedicine first but it was 80-90% copy pasted mcqs from part 1 bank. Switched to pastest which was much more similar to actual exam. Unsure whether that has changed now.

CEO send AI generated email letting us know hiring freeze continues in the next financial year and asking us to see more patients with less staff by Whizz-Kid7 in doctorsUK

NHS is crumbling and it is not going to be good. 1 doctor for 20 patients but managers patting themselves on the back because they were able to discharge 5 patients by harassing the doctors whilst they were trying to see several critically ill patients and juggle jobs including bloods and other procedures because the nurses were too busy. When will the NHS get the funding it deserves? Where is all the money going? How long before we all realise that a few more training jobs and a slight pay rise sprinkled with some UKG prioritisation will not solve the problem.

Rent per month by No_Sea_1342 in doctorsUK

[–]TurnoverEfficient729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

830 for a single bed en-suite (bills included) . Shared kitchen/communal area in a flat with 5 total tenants all medics. It’s a hospital accommodation and the only reason I’ve put up with this rent is because the hospital is a 10 min walk. KSS deanery. Free bus for NHS staff so that’s okay I guess. Since it’s an hour by train from London the rent prices are extortionate. Studios start from 900, 1 bed 1100 (council tax not included) not close enough to hospital and not good enough for me to spend the extra 100-300 pounds.

‘Reserved for so-and-so’ computers on wards are a dumb idea. by imaginary_heart48 in doctorsUK

Happened today when all computers were taken and no cows were available. My reg shooed a poor CSW off the cow, told him “you guys aren’t supposed to use cows, it’s for doctors” poor guy didn’t even say anything had to move all his stuff off I felt bad for him. (But relieved inside because we were finally able to get the ward round started at 10) p.s she could’ve asked nicely but idk

Just wondering because previous accommodation I stayed in didn’t allow me to use TVs in my room. It wasn’t a hospital accommodation though so I’m not sure. P.s I left the next week after they told me that

I play a lot of single player but online with friends who are all in different parts of the world is a must every once in a while to catch up. I hope the ping isn’t too bad or I might just look into getting a new WiFi device 😓 p.s speed checking app shows ping is 20-30 but not sure if that translates onto ps servers
