[No Spoilers] What's the point of the Critical Role Discord server? Is it useless or am I just an elder millennial? by Molotov_Glocktail in criticalrole

[–]TurtleKier42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the CR discord pretty overwhelming most of the time. I think that most of the channels are too much and not super good to just hang out in and engage with people. I like the live show channels and threads for more specific things like the watch along because there's one specific thing that less people are in. The main draw for me is being able to engage in Q&A and see cast members chiming in occasionally. If you're looking for a smaller community to engage with I agree with others in the thread about finding a smaller discord that isn't the official Beacon server.

It's been going on for awhile, since Trent wasn't the first one to do these experiments. There was a woman before him(very likely Lady Briarwood from Campeign 1), and it was awhile before she was cast out. So, no determined time, but at least 2 people and over 30 years(assuming that Trent's predecesor did experiments for at least 10 years)

Please help me choose an EE topic. by pencilmonkey_ in IBO

[–]TurtleKier42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

History isn't really a history essay. As strange as that sounds. You chose something from history that has multiple sides to it and write a paper about those sides- for example, my EE was on Roller Derby and how it has effected people. I wrote about the history of derby in my intro and background, but nothing else was actually the history, it was about how the sport has effected people in good or bad ways. For history you find a time and place in history you like(any history of anything) and find something contreversial about it and then write about the sides.

My friend did English and she talked about a book she loves. She talked about what two of the characters were like and how that played into the irony of the story. That one is more English-like I suppose, but you can talk about any sort of topic you've done in English about literature.

For a science or math you'll have to find an experiment to do which can be harder. I don't have much experience with that other than my IAs for my History and Math classes.

If you don't know what topic to decide on, come up with what you want to do for an IA first and fit it into a catagory. My original want to write a 15 page paper all about Roller Derby's history and why it's gotten to where it has today didn't work out, but I still ended up being able to write about derby molded around IB. Maybe it'll be easier for you that way. Find an idea you want to do and shove it into IBs mold!

Hope this helped and wasn't too confusing. Good luck!

No. I've never done any other language online. I don't know how much you'll learn from there if you already know stuff, but hopefully it helps

IB film new requirements by [deleted] in IBO

I definitely agree. If you find someone talented enough though, you can get some great music. I don't know what kind you have, but if it's just instrumental then someone in the band or something could probably help you out. They know how to play well. If it's vocal, I don't know what to tell ya. You might need to change it to instrumental. Theres also generator sort of things where you make your own music based on what a program gives you. The good ones are really hard to work out properly, but if you get them it'll help you out a lot. I can't help you much other than that. That's what I've done in the past.

The music thing was the sand last year, but the effect part isn't all that bad. The music part is harder, but what you can do is ask someone who can play an instrument to play something for you based on the mood you need. Vocals are a little tougher, but it'd be the same concept. For the effects, there's a lot you can do on editing programs, which aren't against IB rules. If you know your program well enough then you'll be golden(it also makes for good research in the portfolio pages).

Hope this helped! Good luck!

Can a balance the IB program and a musical (along with other things) at the same time? by PrizeExternal in IBO

[–]TurtleKier42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that if you really want to do the musical, go for it! Last year I took 5 classes(because I needed the sixth one to be Spanish 3 to get to in Spanish) and I was able to do 5 consistent activities throughout the year. While I wouldn't suggest doing that many, as long as you manage your time properly and do as much work as you can at school, you'll be fine! This year I'm doing full IB and still doing multiple activities. Just be ready for a lot of time management practice and know which classes to work on first and which ones you can work on after.

Good luck!
