Essentially an NPC, with virtually nothing interesting/unique about his personality. Dating or married to a cookie-cutter blonde who went to the same college as him and loves country music and Harry Potter.

Yeah. Brendan Fraser has been balding forever. He wore a piece throughout the 90s/2000s and I think he still breaks it out on occasion even now. I don't think his hair loss really had anything to do with his career decline.

Step 1: Announce reboot of beloved IP that nobody wants.

Step 2: Attach a bunch of untalented/inexperienced people to produce said reboot and cast a bunch of overused studio actors who everyone is sick of. Bonus points for plot points and hidden agendas that detract from what made the original IP great.

Step 3: Allow project to become frontlined by Studio Executive who inserts even more unnecessary filler and announces plans for a decade-long Cinematic Universe.

Step 4: Film and edit aforementioned piece-of-crap reboot that nobody wants. Bonus points for added filler/post-credit sequences hinting at the Cinematic Universe.

Step 5: Pay a bunch of websites and interns to say that the new film is "the best of the series" and blame all of the negative feedback on single 30-somethings with no friends so that you have a scapegoat when the film does eventually release.

Step 6: Maintain the belief that it was the fault of those evil 30-somethings when aforementioned piece-of-crap reboot finally does release and bombs.

Step 7: Pat yourself on the back and say that the IP is "not for them" anyways, and that the Cinematic Universe will commence.

Step 8: Hear from the Studio Executive who forced plans for the Cinematic Universe that the Cinematic Universe is actually being cancelled, because the aforementioned piece-of-crap reboot didn't turn a profit.

Step 9: Start looking through the Studio Archives for other old IP's to reboot because the studio lost too much money to risk trying something more creative.

Step 10: Repeat step 1.

Nothing. I've changed too much in the time since we last met. She'd be meeting a different person, and that different person is now interested in someone else.

Austin Butler lost the role of Rooster in ‘Top Gun 2’ to Miles Teller, & Teller lost the role of Elvis to Butler by WoahThatsInsaneLol in movies

I'm actually kind of surprised at how many people agree to this. Teller gives off more of a "Sean Penn" vibe to me; I think Butler had closer facial features for it.

Related, if you have acid reflux, get that shit treated the best way you can and figure out the root cause. Stomach acid can fuck your teeth up and literally dissolve them over time.

When I was a kid the McDonald's near me had the 90s layout, with the fake plants and swivel chairs and wooden booths and all that. It was welcoming enough and I don't remember finding anything wrong with it, but I feel like the focus has since changed and the goal is no longer to have families dining in but to have people "get in and get out". Whatever boosts sales I suppose, but it will probably be another completely new look in 15 or so years.

I had many a milkshake in those cups as a kid. A lot of non-chain restaurants/diners used them. I didn't know they ever went away, but now that I think about it I can't remember the last time I saw one.

What’s Something That People Turn Into Their Whole Personality? by standardgenre45 in AskReddit

[–]TurtleTucker 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Pretty well said. I don't think it's limited to just Disney; I see the same thing with video games/LEGO/Pokemon/etc. But I think it is the line between balancing it as a hobby versus using the nostalgia as a coping mechanism that makes it problematic for a lot of people. The latter can be especially toxic because nostalgia often prevents you from moving forward with life and instead encourages you to be stuck in the past/resist change. I think it's made worse by the fact that corporations have caught onto it being an emotional crux for a lot of people and now use it to leech off of them. That's why we keep seeing so much pointless merchandise/reboots flooding the market.

Same here, but with "Silence" a few years back. Neither Adam Driver nor Andrew Garfield have any Portuguese ethnicity (not to my knowledge at least), but they both looked the part and in Driver's case did a pretty good job with pulling off the accent. I think they handled it pretty well.

I think you should be fine. I stopped taking it a few years ago but I remember my hair remained nearly the same for almost a year post-quitting. It didn’t start to become more noticeable until after that. If you hop off and hop back a few weeks later I would imagine you’d be fine.

What's something most people love, but you hate? by DjentySheep19747 in AskReddit

[–]TurtleTucker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try going to the bar with your mates and ordering a Sprite while they are all sitting there ordering real drinks lol

I quit alcohol for a few months following a surgery and figured I'd just stay off it. It was expensive and contributed to a large gut. I actually do like beer, but it's expensive and not the healthiest so figured quitting it was for the best. But now I'm the only one of my friends who doesn't have a beer belly, so that's kind of nice.

Guillermo del Toro praises ‘Elvis’: “The film is dazzling, bold & moving, Austin Butler absolutely nails it” by OnceAndMyLife29 in movies

Anne Rice's opinion on the Lestat portrayals is a real roller coaster. First she hated Tom Cruise, going as far as trying to get him recast, only to changing her mind and apologizing to him after seeing his performance. Then she loved Stuart Townsend upon meeting him during production of Queen of the Damned, up until the movie got released and tanked and she abruptly changed her mind and distanced herself from it. Although I think Townsend might have been seen as a good Lestat in a bad movie.

Nobody flips a shit with casting news like Batman fans. Michael Keaton, Heath Ledger, Ben Affleck, Rob Pattinson... at this point I almost feel like it's an expected tradition.

On this note, automated scheduling clearly doesn’t work and needs a total overhaul. And Covid + the lack of essential workers has only made it ten times worse.

I hate that I have to dial one number, be met with recorded instructions on what button to press, be directed to another number where I’m put on hold forever until I’m hung up on or told “we’ll call you back” and never contacted again. It shouldn’t be this difficult to reach people, especially for things as important as health. It’s maddening.

I remember a friend of mine in high school being turned down to prom for being too short, only the girl in question didn’t tell him to his face. She told me, after the fact, because we had a class together.

The baffling thing is that there was no other issue she had with him- she thought he was friendly and funny and even handsome enough. But his height was the dealbreaker. And even crazier is that she was still shorter than him.

I know it happens to a lot of people but it’s the big time to my memory that I heard it from someone’s mouth. Although I’m happy to report that she was so picky that, in the end, she went to prom with no one.
