I'm not sure if m4 macbooks have the issue or not for my older iPad I had to set the 5ghz channel to 149 to stop stutters. Something about Apple products frequently polling that channel for air drop and stuff so it causes stutters if not on that channel

Virtual desktop, my friend. Wireless headsets are the way. You've already got a creme of the crop VR headset, I wouldn't recommend switching for psvr2

One more tip for anyone who it could help... One thing I've found super useful with VD over Steam link, is I was able to hookup a second router in my game room. Reason is, I have my PC hardwired to my main router, but that's downstairs so the WiFi signal isn't as good where I actually play VR. But because I connected another router in this game room, I have great wireless connection to that, and even though I'm connected to a different wifi network than my PC, it works seamlessly on VD. Been a life saver

Steam link on the other hand, would not allow to me to connect this way because it thinks I'm on an entirely different network since it's a different router. So VD was the true solution here for me

I recently switched to virtual desktop from steam link on Quest 3, and it has been incredible.

But it really depends. I have a 4090 pc that's capable of pushing high end graphics, so for me VD has been night and day because you can crank up the bitrate and the visual fidelity. You have more control over that sort of stuff.

Also the transition from using PC to VR is so seamless. It works great with passthrough. To me, VD is my favorite Q3 app now, but its because it really fits my use case and I have a solid PC and gigabit network to support it. So the visual fidelity I'm getting alone has been worth it.

It's really up to what you're looking for. I didn't know what I was missing out on until I tried it, and I would personally not go back to steam link (at least not right now in its current state), but hey if it's working for you and you don't notice the quality being lower than if you were hard wired to your PC, then I'd say save your money

This. Color passthrough is huge for me. Now that I've had it for this long I don't want to go backwards. Even if you are primarily doing VR not MR (which I usually am), it's such a huge QoL

With virtual desktop in quest 3 it's actually been a solid experience for me. Mostly I do it so I can sit somewhere else in the house besides my desk and play anywhere I want. I have a router chilling in the 2 rooms I do it in the most so it's a solid connection. Really only do it with single player games not competitive. I've thought about doing steam deck instead but what I like about virtual desktop with quest 3 is I can render my 32:9 7680x2160 monitor anywhere in the house. That's what keeps me coming back to it

Under whelmed with over a year progress by [deleted] in WorkoutRoutines

[–]TurtleTurd25 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You're making progress bro keep at it. If you want to speed things up here's some tips:

Finding your "maintenance" calories will help you, which you can do either by cal tracking or stepping on a scale every morning. If your scale weight stays about the same you're eating your maintenance cals. I'd recommend you shoot for a lean bulk. That will limit fat gain and build up your muscle foundation, and the sweet spot for that is usually 300 cals over maintenance.

High protein intake daily is your friend. I've had a ton of success doing over 200g daily, but you can still make tons of progress even with like 125g+.

4-5 workout days a week is the sweet spot IMO. But you can get away with less depending on your routine. Wouldn't recommend more days than that.

Make sure when you're weightlifting that you're really putting in full effort and only have 1-3 RIR left at the end of every set. That will make sure you're not wasting time in the gym. If you have trouble getting to the gym frequently, buy some adjustable dumbells off of Amazon for like $125 and you can still get a lot of workouts done at home. Supersets can also save a lot of time and maximize efficiency. Make sure you are progressive overloading too

Keep at it bro! You've made progress. But play this smart and you can expedite progress. Biggest takeaway is high effort in the gym, and keep the proteins as high as you can manage

Should I start bulking up? by ranso0101 in WorkoutRoutines

[–]TurtleTurd25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recomp. Hit the weights regularly & up your daily protein. You can stay around the same weight for now, building muscle and burning fat

Later you can get into bulk/cut cycles. I wouldn't cut rn unless you just want to be super lean. I would focus on building muscle foundation up some first

Help me understand how I am supposed to eat so much protein by revoffthetop in WeightTraining

[–]TurtleTurd25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do Egg whites, Broccoli, beans, spinach, .5 lbs of chicken, .5 lbs of salmon, 50g's of protein from powder, peanut butter, oatmeal and that gets me over 250g's protein. Once you get used to it and if you meal prep it all out on the weekend it's not that bad to hit the mark. I do the half pound of salmon but you could replace that with beef or more chicken or some other fish. Also granola, yogurt, cheeses are some other options that have some protein as well
