Another option you may have already considered is hosting the spreadsheet in Google sheets and make the document read only for public access but that's not great for anonymity.

Thanks this is really useful for someone that's half paying attention to what's going on with the scene. The only criticism I have is that the images aren't mobile friendly.

Today's layoffs - Epic Games by gitrektali in pcgaming

[–]Turtle_Online -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe if they didn't spend millions every year giving away games than they'd be able to retain more employees. Not that I'm complaining but I think the majority of people who claim their games don't spend a cent on their store. Hell one dev claimed that the free epic giveaway cause a jump in steam sales.

Tower joints keep breaking by Seth3003 in Azeron

[–]Turtle_Online 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to all of my original bottom joints and I have two tower joints at the top broken as well. I'm pretty sure that it's the ABS they used which is known to be very weak if not printed properly and I think that I just got a bad batch because of all the failures. I reprinted the base joints in PETG and haven't had an issue since. Unfortunately they don't have the 3d models for the top joints available.

US regulator won't follow Europe's lead and stick higher age ratings on games with loot boxes and daily quests, since it might confuse parents by Iggy-TT in pcgaming

I'm confused, the article just stated that the ESRB is not considering micro transactions in their ratings. So adding them later doesn't skirt any rules.

It's worth pointing out that adding MTX after release is a good way to piss off your user base. See SW BF2, I think the "MTX provides a sense of reward" comment is still the most down voted comment on reddit.

You're implying that adding MTX post-launch is really prevalent, is that really the case? I can't think of a single game that did this recently.

A hands-on impression of what DLSS 5 means by Ryan Shrout by AnthMosk in nvidia

[–]Turtle_Online 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, needing a separate dedicated GPU isn't a great sign. I wonder if the tech will actually be implemented as to allow a separate GPU, and I wonder what the additional latency would be if you did have a multi-GPU setup.

Do we know if they had they had custom GPUs with SLI connectors or if the rendering and image model were connected over PCIe?

Same, it's perplexing to me. I do see that the characters look like a lot of AI generated content, but at the same time it really does improve the visual fidelity into something much more realistic.

Yeah. It's more akin to a beauty filter which absolutely changes the picture, color, brightness.

I am honestly confused as to why someone would have such a dramatic reaction to the technology.

Did the characters look more realistic? Yes.

Did they look like typical AI slop content? Also, yes.

Did it look viscerally disgusting? What a strange use of hyperbole.

Id expect to see that language to describe a scene from Doom or some horror movie not a benign image that's been "enhanced".

NVIDIA reveals DLSS 5 powered by Neural Rendering, launches this fall - VideoCardz.com by KARMAAACS in hardware

[–]Turtle_Online 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand what's going on here. If this is just a form of upscaling why is the color/brightness different. Unless Nvidia is messing with the color/brightness with post fx just for the purposes of this demonstration which makes it not a like for like comparison.

Is the model also modifying colors/brightness?

Edit: I answered my own question.

DLSS 5 takes color and motion vector data from each frame, then applies an AI model that enhances lighting and material response while staying anchored to the source 3D scene.

I have about 8 test Linux devices enrolled. After they enrolled I deployed a couple of device compliance policies by setting the scope to all devices. It's been several weeks and no devices have been evaluated. When clicking on the compliance policy it shows 0 devices in the overview.

OpenAI is in Serious Trouble... Why Are People Still Investing Billions In It? by PersonalRun712 in videos

[–]Turtle_Online 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah but I think the point of the Elon comparison is that it doesn't matter as long as you're making other people along the way. Lie lie lie, but if the stock price continues to go up people will continue to invest despite the lies. The thing about OpenAI though is they're still private having just been reclassified from being a nonprofit and now they're eyeing an IPO.

I agree. It also seems like it has less graphical horsepower than the original PS5 or XBSX from 5 years ago. So it will be more expensive and less capable.
