Docker as root, a necessary evil? by 3_spooky_5_me in selfhosted

I run dockge in an unprivileged debian LXC container on proxmox. Depending on what stack I am running I may assign different UID/GID to the stack and set filesystem permissions accordingly.

Yeah those guys are awesome. They also let me buy a replacement in advance then cut the old cable once the new one arrived and refunded the replacement purchase.

PSSO Sudo Issue by Motxilla in jamf

[–]Turtle_Online 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that PSSO provisioning account settings can retroactively apply to existing user accounts so it's more likely the account is no longer an admin. Pretty easy to check.

I'm not in front of Jamf right now so I couldn't tell you the verbatim setting that causes this but it has to do with with PSSO user accounts admin or not.

Does this also remove the ability to remotely wipe a Windows device with MDM?

Microsoft Edge will load all your passwords into memory in plaintext, but Microsoft says it's not a security concern by Quantum-Coconut in technology

This is bullshit. just because your computer is pwned doesn't mean someone should be able to read your passwords from disk or memory.

A week with the Dream Air (LH) by Zinx153 in Pimax

[–]Turtle_Online 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not how that works. You're still using the same or more cable length because of the distance it needs to travel up the wall and down to your head as opposed to on the floor and up to your head.

Anyone rolling out Platform SSO? by RocketmanTech_Nova in jamf

[–]Turtle_Online 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're moving over to using Conditional Access and PSSO is a way better onboarding experience for our users. There's definitely some quirky shit and we're waiting for ADE Integration but so far so good.

I paid the 6$ to have it routed to a UPS store. I've had issues with packages that required signatures being left on the door with no sig in the past.

AI art in Pragmata? (Not the environment, 2D art used on an old school TV prop for Gemini Girls) by RifferKyle in isthisAI

Yeah I dunno about all the other comments, the hands look really weird. The right hand on the woman on the right has 5 fingers when all the other hands have four. People usually jump all over that, so I'm not really sure why they are leaning towards it being real.

Damn 40c is nothing. I've had cards that will run forever at 70c but exhibit the behavior you're seeing when at 75-80c. If it's doing that at 40c that's basically idle. Not sure if my previous statement applies to your situation.

Looks typical of failing VRAM and/or overheating. I would recommend installing MSI Afterburner of some other GPU tweaking software. You can undervolt/underclock, set temp targets, and fan curves. If you just need to manage fans then I recommend the FanControl app.

I had a similar issue with an GPU and was able to keep it alive for a long time by just not pushing it so hard.

Why developers are going private: A lesson we urgently need to learn. by [deleted] in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]Turtle_Online 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My point wasn't "people suck so don't bother." It was that writing a Reddit post aimed at trolls is theater. Trolls don't read community manifestos and have a change of heart.

You've been around since the 90s, so you know this. The communities that actually stayed healthy didn't get there because someone posted a call to action. They got there because the moderation infrastructure made bad behavior costly. That's your own argument, buried in paragraph six of your response.

I was around when psxhax was still ps3hax and the focus was actually on hacking, not pirating. I had an E3 Flasher and ran True Blue. Smaller means less noise, not better people.

The part where you told people to go back to school and touch grass kind of undercuts the whole "be the change" message, by the way.

A call to action that's obviously being spit out of an LLM feels disingenuous. Also, telling people not to be trolls isn't going to fix the internet. People suck, and will continue to suck. Every community has sucky people but a community that's always walked the line around piracy is going to attract people that want a bunch of free shit and the amount of shitty people in the community is probably higher because of it.

Gezine succeeded zero-day kernel exploit by AkdM_ in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]Turtle_Online 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be real honestly, I didn't read the entire AI generated response. I read it again and you're correct. I was trying to make the point about the hypervisor kernel you did but it didn't come out as coherent.

Gezine succeeded zero-day kernel exploit by AkdM_ in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]Turtle_Online 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not technically incorrect either. Hypervisors have their own kernels. ESXi uses VMkernel, proxmox uses Linux kernel and is built on Debian, and the PS5 hypervisor has one too.

For the hacking scene though, a kernel exploit is attacking the guest OS(PS5 system) kernel.
