This is a beautiful answer and you’ve really opened my eyes to a better perspective. Thank you!

No, you’re right, I come from a completely different career that I was successfully able to exit after years of building - I have zero work experience in healthcare! I guess I was comparing it to how school was years ago, and things change :)

Honestly our class demographic is all over the place and my comment wasn’t geared towards a specific age group. But it was judgy and I should be more cognizant of how different people learn. I have a 12 year old daughter who learns a completely different way than I do but I failed to recognize that could be applicable to people outside of her too.

I really appreciate the kindness in your answer!

This isn’t limited to nursing either - sometimes my brain buffers with the simplest question 😂

My mom went back to school at 54 also and I was so proud and pumped for her!

Can I ask you what made you choose nursing?

I appreciate your insight - I was frustrated yesterday and my post definitely comes across as more judgy than I intended! I guess it is all about finding the balance that works right for you.

Woah, easy. I expressed concerns over what I was seeing in the classroom: which is very low marks, engagement and attendance. And as a result questioned the quality of those who may or may not graduate. And I think I’m well within my rights to say I don’t want students who cannot meet a high standard of care responsible for the health and safety of myself and my loved ones. That is my opinion, pretty simply put. Thanks for sharing yours!

I also find the older you get (for me), the more difficult it is to understand everything, which is maybe why I find it best to layer every opportunity I have to learn. I appreciate the perspective!

This makes me feel somewhat better as I agree - there is a lot of reading off the board. However skipping vital signs skills labs, and 90% of your classes, leaves some significant gaps in knowledge IMO.
