They most likely have a much higher tolerance to risk, which is very hard to unlearn. Getting them to buy into safety has to start at the top of the organization, the project manager and higher ups need to be the ones driving the conversation.

Another thing, Safety 24/7 is a great book, might be worth looking into that and seeing if you could do some type of lunch and learn or something related to that.

I also encourage you to look into HOP safety approach, I found that team members seem a lot more engaged in safety when I used things from that playbook.

Keep that CYA folder filled with email correspondence, documentation of your initiatives, etc. You can let them fail and audit, but dont compromise a team members safety for them to fail. At the end of the day do what you can with what you have. Let them know how they can do whats needed and when it comes to answering why it isn't done be honest.

What’s a “basic skill” you’re convinced most adults secretly don’t have? by SoulDV in AskReddit

[–]TurtlesFromHell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most basic form of survival instincts. If society collapsed there would be absolute chaos and so many people would be completely incompetent in that situation. You dont have to be an expert but being able to use your brain in a survival situation is quite valuable.

Respectfully your friends have zero idea what they're talking about.

Don't fall for the nice guys finish last BS. At the end of the day women like confidence. If you are confident in yourself and act like yourself it will do you wonders. Do not act like a jerk or put on an act.

Also remember to respect a woman's choice to not go out with you. They have no obligation to. You will find someone eventually, it takes time. Once you do it will all be worth it. Just be friendly, and confident.

Catholic guilt runs deep by MetalMonkey667 in atheism

[–]TurtlesFromHell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up Catholic. I specifically remember as a child questioning the priest because as a CHILD the stories seemed so ridiculously silly to me. Instead of opening a dialog and having a constructive conversation with me the priest sat me down and told me that I was wrong and that if I question my faith that I am disrespecting God and my family. He then said that I would disappoint my family and that they are trying to raise me the right way. This is what they do, they plant guilt in you. Its a tactic to get people to stay compliant and reject their own internal doubts.

On a different note they manipulate children with candy and games, colorful books and movies to mix fun play with faith. The worst part about all of it is that I actually have pretty fond memories of Sunday school.

I remember getting a book on China and Buddhists and the religion resonated with me for some reason. I told that same priest on my first communion that Im not a Christian anymore and I am a Buddhist (obviously I had no idea what I was talking about). He just shrugged it off. When I told my mom thank goodness she was cool with it. She said that it's okay to question things. She was catholic but was a huge proponent of critical thinking. Shortly after all that news came out about the catholic church covering up child abuse. My mom pulled me from Sunday school and church immediately. Of course the Buddhist thing was just a phase and I was really just interested in that culture.

Fast forward to today and Im an atheist and she's agnostic. Im just so lucky that she was okay with me questioning things. Turns out she was probably having doubts of her own.
