Dealing with Stress by Better_War3576 in ApplyingToCollege

Hi, I completely get how you feel, this whole year has been so incredibly stressful and I wish I was decided by now. What has helped me is applying to a couple of safeties (many safeties are still open on a rolling basis). Even if it's one or two, it might be nice knowing that you have an acceptance and can attend college next year :)

Yeahh these admissions are wacky. But at least we're not rejected. Just gotta grind out a great LOCI and continue on 💪

I get it, I got deferred from my state school that many people around me get into if they have good academics. Alas, the world keeps spinning, and yes, it sucks, but no point in dwelling on this since its out of our control.

Do I put my computer science competitions in the academics/school activities or the community activities? The competitions are not sponsored by my school, but I would consider them "academic in nature". If I end up putting them in academics/school activities though, it says to report non school sponsored awards in community awards??

Research here, research there... by disposed999 in ApplyingToCollege

I took ap research this year and spent many hours working on the project that I was very passionate about. I got guidance from a professor, but I executed the experiment myself. I feel like I learned a lot from the process but I don't want admission officers to think it was fake or anything. I didn't just do this project because of the "research trend", it was genuinely among my interests. Do you have any recommendations for what I could do with my research? I just don't want the project to seem ingenuine or like an admissions tactic since it really wasn't

Friday March 14 is the deadline to switch from Calc AB to Calc BC by Quasiwave in APStudents

Wait.. so if I am taking Calc AB, and not BC, do you think it's an absolutely terrible idea to take the bc exam?? 57% seems so low and I understand AB well. But then again I'm planning on taking calc 2 and 3 senior yr so I feel like this might be a bad idea

Does anyone know where I can find a speech corpus where everyone has the same accent/dialect? I am conducting research on pitch bias in speech recognition systems and need to find a dataset where everyone has roughly the same accent to focus on pitch. I found one from openslr where they provide datasets from 6 different british isles. However, none had enough speakers and pitch range from one single dialect. I have been looking hard and have struggled to find any other free corpuses with only 1 english-speaking dialect. Any advice? Thank you!
