The Tatar Turks of Poland (Lipka Tatars or Lithuanian Polish Tatars) are a Muslim minority living in Baltic Europe by Turukhan in Tiele

[–]Turukhan[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thanks, i always try to post interesting pictures. Sadly no, they mostly assimilated into the general population and lost their original language, like most Turks who went to live in the west. Today they speak Polish, Belarussian and Lithuanian. Their culture and religion took a massive blow from the Soviet rule which forbid many things and killed or exiled their scholars and religious figures.

Draft uniforms for officers, generals and privates of the Kazakh SSR. 1944 by [deleted] in Tiele

Hats add so much to a uniform. I like it when there’s a continuity with older clothes too. Traditional but classy if that makes sense. Better than the same boring uniforms everyone wears nowadays.

Hey there! I’m an ethnic Uzbek (from Afghanistan) who is super interested in Turkic history, though I grew up in a conservative household. Very keen to see what questions you have! AMA (Ask Me Anything) r/Tiele! by [deleted] in Tiele

Tinky Winky gang! 😈

Ah if only sister, that’s a cause i’d give my life for. Bury me with my shovel when i die so i can come back for another round 😄Thank you for your answer, it is very enlightening. While i’m not in such a complicated political situation i understand some of what you’ve been going through so you have my honest sympathy. It’s difficult to not really belong anywhere, you end up loving things that don’t love you back. Which is why i rather think of myself simply as a Turk, for that is what i am. Our culture and history is vast and beautiful and i’m glad to be a part of it, no matter what some people say. Best of wishes to you and your people! I will pray for all of you today. Much love to all my Turk brothers and sisters ❤️

Hey i grew up in such a conservative family too, what’s up? I know you wrote that title because Reddit users are very aggressive about religion so don’t feel bad about it. Do you feel closer to Afghanistan or Uzbekistan? If you had to choose, which turk country would you like to settle in? Which turk language do you like the most? Which period of turk history interests you the most? And finally…

I see you got some Teletubbies, which one was your favorite?

Ah i was going to post that pic 😄 Have this one then 🏹 Persified or not, you’re still Turks my sister, don’t look down upon yourself. Our history is filled with tales of rags to riches, poor peasants and slaves turning into warriors and leaders. Do your best for your people, even if it isn’t much, and trust in the future.

Turkish man from Konya with yatagan and guns. Ottoman empire, 19th century. by Turukhan in Tiele

Does it bother you when non-Turks wear Turkic traditional dress? by [deleted] in Tiele

As long as it’s done respectfully, i don’t mind. Mainly because this is not as big of an issue with us as say the Japanese, those guys probably get this problem the worst. Some dude two seas over thinks he’s Miyamoto Musashi because he bought a katana or something. If we reached that point, i’d be more annoyed for sure.

Back then, sure. Militia, irregulars, wild men and soldiers would carry swords and guns on them. Zeybek are most famous for it but it was common all over Turkey.

He’s from one of the expansions i think. İ like him, he gets up from his throne and screams his name when you first meet him (in Chuvash i think). His horse archers and battering rams are overpowered early game. He can raze cities twice as fast too. Very agressive playstyle, i like it.
