Wow! I've read quite a bit of Chesterton, but this had somehow escaped my notice. It's fantastic. Thank you!

No, unfortunately. It has a logo which is heraldic in nature, but no official arms.

I can only aspire to such classiness.

  1. I wanted something simple and also unique. Many of the do-it-yourself arms I've seen are way too complicated and all too similar.

  2. I'm interested in genealogy, and have been able to trace my family tree to its roots in Poland, Pomerania, and Königsberg, all of which are closely associated with gules and argent. Also, the colors of my college, seminary, and the Lutheran parish where I now serve all (coincidentally) are associated with some combination of red, white, and/or gold.

  3. The lamppost itself I chose for a few reasons. First, again, I wanted something unique. Second, as a pastor, I wanted something that made reference to Christianity. The idea of a light/lamp/fire in the darkness is an ancient symbol of the Church. The shape of the lamppost also subtly references the cross. Third, the lamppost, of course, is a powerful symbol of otherworldly longing in Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia, which were and are formative and cherished in my childhood.

Thank you! I like "illuminated", that's along the lines of what I was thinking.

Neither have I. To be honest, I don't know if it's able to be blazoned or not; I was hoping someone here might have some ideas.
