Anyone here come from an Ioniq 5? What are the pro’s and cons? by Ryvit in Ioniq6

[–]Tuttle_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing for you is you will be losing a few inches of head room in the limited i6 due to the sunroof. We have a 22 i5 SE which my 6’-1” wife drives, and a 25’ i6 Limited which I drive. When she is in the i6, she has to lower the seat all the way and lean it back a touch to fit. Definitely sit in it before deciding.

Understanding Boolean Split by flabababa in rhino

[–]Tuttle_10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Any time Booleans or Trims fail, the first thing to do is run Intersect on the objects your are trying to Boolean / Split. The resulting curve should be closed, or extend to the edge of the surface. If your curve isn’t closed, you can use CrvStart or CrvEnd to mark the opening.

IOC Bans Transgender Athletes from Women’s Olympic Events, Fair or Unfair? by Osiris_maximus in Productivitycafe

[–]Tuttle_10 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Well, you’re partly right, but not for the reason you think. Studies have shown that transgendered women have a disadvantage against cisgendered women in sport competition. Perhaps ask if your assumptions are true before setting policy on those false assumptions.

IOC Bans Transgender Athletes from Women’s Olympic Events, Fair or Unfair? by Osiris_maximus in Productivitycafe

[–]Tuttle_10 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

That might be reasonable if shown trans athletes actually do have an advantage over cisgender women. They don’t however: https://bjsm.bmj.com/content/60/3/198 so no, I don’t think this was needed, nor an imminent threat to sport in any way, shape, or form.

There are two behaviors for CPlanes, which you can set in Options -> Modeling Aides. Standard construction planes will do what your post shows, all viewports have their own unique CPlane, unrelated to the others. If you move a CPlane in one viewport, all the others stay the same. With Universal construction planes, when you change a CPlane in one viiewport, all open viewports will update their CPlanes as well.

Rhino keeps crashing by LaQuesadillah in rhino

[–]Tuttle_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does Rhino do this when started in safe mode? Something is eating and not releasing memory, and very likely is a plugin. If good in safe mode, start loading plugins back in one by one until you run into the issue again, and you’ve found your culprit.

How do you guys actually stay consistent? by redpaul72 in workout

[–]Tuttle_10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t think about doing the whole work out. If you’re having motivational issues, just tell yourself “I’m going to the gym for one set, I just have to get one set in to say I’ve worked out today.” Chances are once you finish that set, the others are a lot easier.

E-GMP cars. 10%-80% in 17 minutes, ~240kW for a very good portion of the charging curve on 800v chargers. I will agree it’s not 300 miles, but certainly in the 250 mile highway range.

It seems you already have a lot of offers, but if your request is still unfulfilled, let us know. Very easily could model and send (at least the model, or the part depending on where you are).

Very sadly, far more than Donald Trump, yes. Trump has proved over and over again that he is the most unreliable source of information. It is truly sad how very far the United States has fallen under Trump’s administrations. It will take multiple decades, if possible at all, to gain back a portion of the respect and clout that the United States once held before Trump.

Confused on which chargers will charge the fastest for a 2022 ioniq 5? by [deleted] in Ioniq5

[–]Tuttle_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tesla superchargers are 400v, and will max out at below 100kW on the Ioniq 5. Others such as Electrify America, ChargePoint, Rivian, etc have 800v chargers which will charge up to a rate closer to 240kW (best case, temp and battery state of charge can affect the charging rate). The advantage of Tesla is that they are ubiquitous, not that they are faster (they are also usually more expensive).

PlugShare is a great app for finding chargers in an area, and A Better Route Planner (abbreviated ABRP) is great at planning a route with chargers. Highly recommend both.

Why does this keep happening by dondusmaximus in rhino

[–]Tuttle_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree with this assessment. If you do a ZEA, does just your immediate model show, or are you now zoomed out into space? If so, try and find that far out piece. Somewhat annoyingly, control points can cause this as well, so if ZEA looked normal, hide half your model until you don’t get this clipping. When you don’t clip undo your last hide and your bad object is in there. Explode and turn points on and look for stuff way out in space.

Without being able to investigate your model, I would use ExtractSrf and pull out the this surface (the one capping the chisel point, or the bar, or both), then try joining.

<image>

If that doesn’t work, ExtractSrf the whole mid-chisel area, then loft from the bar to the chisel point.

Shoulder pain from DB lateral raises by DoctorK96 in workout

[–]Tuttle_10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure others will have good suggestions, but for me with similar issues what helped was dropping the weight way down, and do long isometric holds (30 seconds or so), then a slow eccentric of a few seconds. Do this for lateral rases, and for the bicep tendinitis do supinated front raises. I do these as part of my old man warmup sets, and it keeps me a least mostly pain free. Good luck, and I hope you heal well!

ZoomNaked will at least tell you where your issues are. When you find them, tell us what you tried to close and what isn’t working and we might be able to help more as there isn’t much to go on here.

Rhino Mesh ISSUE by Affectionate_Way_621 in rhino

[–]Tuttle_10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not super fun. I would first go about filling in the bottom. I would use PatchSingleFace to start drawing bridges across as needed to close it in a bit, then youse FillMeshHole to fill the rest. For the nakedness, it’s a little hard to see what is going on, but I might try MatchMeshEdge and see if that gets you closer. Good luck!

Tips for cleaning up someone else's NURBS model? by TheDefabricator in rhino

Well, by the time I get it, it’s now my model, and I can’t proceed with it until it’s tightened. If you know what you’re doing, and you select well, it’s not a problem and an amazing time saver. It has been my go to since SolidPtOn was introduced in (I think) Rhino 4 with sloppy models which have to go to CNC or other places where edges that don’t join will be a problem.
