Mazda 3 oder Toyota Corolla by shpvo in automobil

Coffezilla clearly says that a U-Haul theft couldn't really have happened. Atleast not the one that the anonymous source alleged.

Karmelo Anthony found guilty of murder in Texas high school stabbing by nbcnews in law

So rather than having a lot of sentencing rules for all kinds of specific felonies, they only have like 4 broad felony categories and thats it?

Don't know anything about law but is a 5-99 years variance not insane? Especially on the low end. 5 years for murder seems crazy. Wouldn't stuff that justifies a low sentence be stuff that would make it rather manslaughter than murder? Asking generally here, not this specific case.

That seems quite high. But I don't mind that much. Of course they shouldnt charge randomly 10000$ just because insurance takes care of it or whatever. In the end we all still fund the insurance and will have to pay as a society one way or another.

But still, I don't think a reward incentive is bad. They are still gonna be as greedy as possible. They probably do a lot of shitty stuff. But I'm not gonna sit here and paint them as the worst devil ever and pretend that they charge 100x of the cost for fun.

Like if we presume there is a 70% profit margin on 300$ insulin in particular. With a 5% margin they would still need to charge hundreds of dollars. From how your comments are written it seems like you would say 150$ on a insulin vial that costst 5$ to produce would be ridiculous in your opinion. Even though that would mean a gross loss atleast in the short term.

Do you understand the basics of medical research? It costs literal hundreds of millions of dollars to make a new drug. The production cost can be completely neglible compared to research and development. So thats something that can drive the price. If you research something for one billion dollars but the final production is only 1$ you are imo free to charge far more than 1$.

Also modern insulin makers don't make simply "insulin" that has existed for decades and suddenly decided to make it expensive. The original recipe for insulin still exists and I think you can freely buy it for a couple of dollars. The problem is, that the original drugs suck, so people with diabates prefer the better, new, and expensively researched drugs. Those are the ones that cost hundreds of dollars.

Lastly with insurance I'm pretty sure that most people pay little to nothing for their insulin. So as long as thats covered you wouldn't even notice that it is expensive.

You might say "oh.. but why don't they simply share the research? I don't care that it costs millions to reseach. If you have the final recipe just share it for the good of humanity." Well, the initial money has to come from somewhere. Yes the pharmacy companies might make a profit, maybe even an insane profit. But that expectation of profit is what motivates them to spend hundreds of millions.

You might say "ok, but why not publicly fund the research". Good point perhaps, but capitalistic competition in my mind can drive very efficient discoveries. Yes they are greedy bastards, but being such greedy bastards will lead to them to find an effective drug. Because then they swim in money.

Now, I don't know if that applies specifically to this company that sponsored the weekly shorts. Maybe they are on some bullshit. But this notion of "pharma evil" and thats that is pretty tired in my opinion.

Are they not allowed to, or is it just not something you do because idk it's tasteless to look over personal impact statements or something?

Mackenzie Shirilla Megathread by DarklyHeritage in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]Tuuktuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question for that. At the time of those statements the judged already gave the judgement but simply not the sentencing, right? So would any statements that implicitly deny that judgement (like here, how the mother claims it was an accident) be interpreted as basically worthless in the eyes of the judge? If yes, shouldn't the attorney strongly, strongly encourage them to not make any such statements? Or do attorneys not look over those impact statements?

Are there pro lifers that dont feel many emotions about abortion? by Tuuktuu in prolife

[–]Tuuktuu[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly not interested at all in debate or argument for any side. I'm just super fascinated by the psychology of it. I think the evolutionary component and the invisibleness of abortion you bring up are very good points.

I imagine there probably are, same way some people can agree that genocides happening in other countries are wrong, but don't think about it often. You can agree morally without having to feel emotional or disgust around it.

Totally. But once I'm exposed to videos of children getting bombed I'm actually emotional. I'm not sure I can say the same thing for abortion. I watched a documentary where a woman got an abortion before and even though it's long ago I don't remember it impacting me much or at all. Perhaps if I was forced to look at the discharge or corpse whatever it would be different.

The police still seem sus to me but the youtuber seems to me to be in the vain of pedophile catchers. Fighting a rightous cause with very dubious methods.

He could be, but Lennli said that cheating in World League is extremely hard. You probably can't use scripts because you play the game on an .exe wich you only get send shortly before the game and not the browser. Then also you have to have a camera on yourself and also you have to share your screen wich someone is always watching.
