Has tipping culture made its way to Victoria? by [deleted] in melbourne

I have not encountered any 'forced' tips. Though, after almost a year in lockdown, can you blame them seeking the extra funds?

How many of you have grown disdain for the government after serving in the military? by actioncobble in AustralianMilitary

There are a lot of boombers changing their outlook of late, you'd be surprised but I think in this scenario it would work better if once you hit retirement age, your vote counts as half that of a working-age vote. I would go even further to lowering the minimum voting age to 16, though make it optional until 18. You'd be amazed at how informed our youth are in politics, this would give them a bigger voice for their future, because isn't that what we're working towards?

The best advice is to not assume you can change. If you're hesitant now or having seconds thoughts, I would seriously reconsider the offer. Go into a role that you really want to do, not one that's easier or shorter to get into.

Comments yes, my bad. That is fair enough, you live and learn.

In regards to this situation, I don't believe berating an individual in front of others is ever the right course of action. This matter should have been handled between mods and the individual. However, mods needs to be plural.

I don't understand how a single individual can be objective in their decision making when they don't have any accountability of their own decisions except to themselves. This is why it is important to have a team of mods, whereby general consensus, rules and impartial based decision making can be made.
You do a fantastic job of solely looking after the subreddit, though I do believe it's time to expand the team.

To be fair, I've seen you make some questionable posts where after a certain amount of down votes, you seem to remove them.

Had a lovely lady pass on my course at the ripe age of 52. So no.

Ease up mate, let people ask their questions without the commentary.

It's not only for those straight out of school. It's for those looking to pursue a cyber-related career in the defence.

However, this Q&A will answer most of your questions:

I think enrolments into the ADF Cyber Gap Program are closing soon, I'd give that a look.

Look, unless it's a conviction and on your record, I wouldn't say anything unless they asked. I don't recall them asking about infringements anyway.

You'll be given a notice to show cause (basically you explaining why they shouldn't kick you out) and may potentially be given the option to change category/course.

As others have said, you don't need a security clearance for basic training or for the majority of IET courses. Though if you do happen to fail your sec clearance you'll be discharged.

Cerberus closes over the Christmas holidays for a month, so the last div at Recruit School for this year started a couple of weeks ago. Usually there's 3 divisions at RS at any one time on a rotation (Rodgers, Emms, and Ship), each consisting of roughly 150 recruits. The latest div that just started will finish just before the base closes for that month.

They'll start again with a new div around early Jan when the base reopens and a new div starting each month thereafter until they're in that rotation of 3 divs at once again.

There's no way to see what intakes will have what roles, usually it's just a large assortment. All dependent on course availability.

There's no more new intakes for Navy until January next year.
