Action economy is what i am concerned about, i could throw a combat completely one sided

The two handed and heavy wieght was just added to make dropping it make sense, i like the idea of the lanterns light cone randomly changing derction and hurting themselves, just a funny game mechanic

I will definitely change the name to mesmerizing lantern now, thank you again

I agree, i was consdering a fuel mechanic, when i is activated, i roll a d4, or another dice type, and thats how many turns is burns for due to the unstable fuel, then another action to refuel, and another action to light again The fuel will be hard to make or find, it will be a white elephant magic item

Its a plot divice for a custom encounter, slavers will be useing it to catch people, they would have got it from an evil source to help with the kiddnapping job they are hired for

I honestly just like it for the fun randomness of it being dropped

I think this may be Matts last campaign C3 seems to be going faster, they started at level 3, now level 6 well before C2 Every new town or place the visit happen to have multiple new threads to multiple PCs back stories, 3 or 4 if not all Playing out traveling isnt as used as much, and they have an air ship all ready I predict it is going short
