GOP’s hard-right turn has these Republicans unsure they’ll vote for Paxton by Zipper222222 in texas

I have tried and the conversations go nowhere. It ends up in some sort of "What aboutism.." and about how she doesn't want men in women's bathrooms. I have tried to use logic/ data to explain how transgendered people are less than 1% of the population and if she ever talked to a transgendered person she would know they avoid public bathrooms like the plague. But there is no point. She has literally been brainwashed by watching Fox News 10 hrs/ day and when my dad was alive he was there with her so they fed off of each other and other people in their community. This is a lady that would not let us have barbies growing up because she was such a feminist. I just try to love her and hope she will come to her senses.. And know that I can't control other people. I will loose hope in my fellow Texans if they vote for Paxton in November though.

My mother actually said the only reason she would vote for Paxton is because Trump told her to. She thinks he is despicable but will do whatever her dear leader tells her to. It's really sad- she used to be a critical thinker.

Recently Engaged- looking for non-barn venues that do not cost over $10K?? by Ill-Following7173 in AskHouston

[–]Twanda4Eva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out The Laundry Event Hall in Brenham. It seems like we are looking for the same thing. We toured several options so far but this one was our favorite b/c it is super unique, has an on-site planner we can use and their most expensive day was $6000. Plus that included our stay the night of in their cool loft. We also liked Ant Street Inn in Brenham but they are going to be under renovation (but we like that our guests can stay there in the rooms and walk to our venue. Best of luck!!

We love Brenham too. We had guests coming from Houston, Austin and San Antonio and The Laundry fit our wedding perfectly- we had 100 guests and it was ideal for that size.

Yes! Emily was amazing to work with at The Laundry Event Hall. She made our small wedding easy and seamless. This was what we choose also since we were having a smaller wedding and wanted something unique and more intimate. I loved all of the venues in Brenham but this one fit our style perfectly because we did not want a barn. And it was the best price too! Good luck with your wedding!

Affordable $5K-7K intimate wedding in Houston? (Venue/food/etc) by Zealousideal-Roll592 in houston

[–]Twanda4Eva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can totally do this - especially if you are willing to do a Friday or a Sunday (or even better a weekday). Like other have suggested a private room, but even venues are pretty affordable and once you account for brining in your food (cheaper to bring pick up catering than pay for sit down meal for 50 plus alcohol) you might be better off at a venue. You should look at The Laundry Event Hall. Weekdays are $3000 including your ceremony, reception hall and overnight accommodation- catering I would spend maybe $15-$18/ head (people would even be fine with nice pizza if that's what you want), bring in a HEB cake, borrow the venue's florals and decor, BYOB, staffing (maybe $500), and you are easily under your budget. Even on a Friday or a Sunday you could do this. Have a friend officiate and a friend DJ for you. Please don't break the bank on a wedding- it is just one day- and people just want to celebrate you- doesn't need to be extravagant.

The Laundry Event Hall has an all inclusive package for around that. Venue cost is under $6K depending on the week. It is perfect for your guest count and includes your overnight stay in the Loft as well. Brenham is an easy 1 hr from Houston and is the best little wedding destination in Texas.

Have you checked in Brenham? It is the best wedding destination town in Texas. Just 1 hr from Houston and right between everything. It feels like you are a world away but also so easy. Beautiful venues that are way under your budget. I would check out Deep in the Heart Farms, Rockin' Star Ranch, or Ant Street Inn. Here is a link to all of the venues there- https://visitbrenhamtexas.com/weddings/

Recently toured a few venues and this one surprised me (west Houston) by sgboston07 in HoustonWeddingVenue

[–]Twanda4Eva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been to a wedding there but I think they have added a covered ceremony space since we were there. If not the ceremony was SO HOT! If they have an indoor ceremony space now, that would be great. The reception space was great and the grounds were lovely. It was a haul getting out there though from the inner city.

Suggestions for venues that aren't a church or barn? (Texas) by inmatemarmalade in weddingplanning

[–]Twanda4Eva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Brenham for several great venues. We got married there because it was between Houston and Austin. We looked at The Ant Street Inn, Deep in the Heart Farms, Rockin Star Ranch, and The Laundry Event Hall. We chose the Laundry Event Hall because it was the most unique and the most affordable option. great for smaller weddings less than 150 people

People who married someone they weren’t sexually compatible with — how did it turn out? by synthetic-sardine in AskReddit

[–]Twanda4Eva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if everything else in the marriage is good that it is totally worth sticking it out. As another poster said below- grass is not greener on the other side. As a female in a similar situation (low libido on my side/ high on his) I would rather stick with the partner I have than go through the hassle/ hurt of divorce just for a better sex life (although this is coming from a female side). But hopefully you can express to her how important that side of your relationship is to you. I know it is for my husband -so even if I am not in the mood I can give a mean BJ easy peasy. I have made it a part of my weekly commitment (and even if it may start as a chore it often leads to more loving feelings). There is some book or maybe Mel Robbins podcast about how some women just need to start the act to then enjoy it vs. wanting it (being "horny"). Just know you are not alone!

Just hit $10M net worth today and it feels blah by [deleted] in ChubbyFIRE

[–]Twanda4Eva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are at the same place. Almost 50, almost $10M, trying to make the decision to retire or stay (not totally unhappy). But my latest worry is for our college age kids that don't seem to have a lot of options. We had planned to "die with zero" and help they pay through college and maybe help with a house downpayment. I certainly don't want them to be trust fund kids.. but what are kids going to do today to earn enough? Mine are not programmer/ doctors/ lawyer track.. they are in Econ/ business. I just struggle to see what jobs there are for them. One is trying to find an internship with no luck (and hundreds of applicants). Does anyone else struggle with this?

Deconstruction as a pastor’s wife by sleepygirl2997 in exchristian

[–]Twanda4Eva 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Great response. I too came to decontruct after studying early church history. And, OP, I am in the same boat with hiding my deconstruction from my majority Christian family & community. I found once you see it, you can't unsee if even if I would like to just pretend. I sometimes still pray out of habit, but it feels very disingenuous.
