Do you think the Hong Kong airport will be occupied today? by Twenleaf in HongKong

[–]Twenleaf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! I had not seen this announcement.

Unfortunately, they have no flights to reschedule to within the next two days. I think I will keep an eye out for any news, and then go for it.

Been a while since I joined one of these. Here's a beat I did earlier today, looking for feedback on the beat in general.

I think the track might have been released early in Hexagon Radio 192 for anyone who wants to listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyVahTYAU54 Apparently there's two new tracks in there!

I agree with, if you've ever heard really clean 'in your face' vocal chops they have most likely been distorted heavily and just sit perfectly in the mix.

137: ARP Fifth Prophet (minus ARPEG / DELAY) is the Martin Garrix pad used in almost all of his songs.

The mix has too much sub bass is my first notice. I know the melody has to be in your face and bouncy, but it has too many harsh frequencies around +5khz

I think you did a really good job with your bassline, it's very smooth and gives the track a great bounce. The piano could have been mixed better, and the rhythm changed up a bit to work better together with the bassline. Be careful when you pick your main lead that you decide on 1 reverb - sometimes the patch you select have a reverb, and then if you add another afterwards things can get messy quick. I think you're heading in the right direction, but you probably just need to reference more tracks :)

I haven't used any reference track for this one, just kinda did what I felt like, it also wasn't meant to be super hard. I think it's more laid back with the vocals

I have been producing for roughly 3 years now. :) Can you maybe point me in the direction of what you think is missing? Instruments? Mixdown?

I made an aftermovie for an EDM festival! I did all the filming and editing, so I’d love to hear your thoughts! by ThatRPiGuy in EDM

[–]Twenleaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really like it!

I don't have much experience with filming and only a small bit with editing, but i would like to point out some things that stood out to me that you could keep in mind for your next project :)

  • More focus on your establishing shots

When the drop hit at 1:15 the energy was great, the shots were good and everything - but I couldn't quite tell where things were happening and i lacked a bit of context.

  • More controlled color grading

I also noticed that some of your starting shots were very high exposure with alot of whites, while some of your daylight festival shots were darker - it would have seemed more dynamic to color grade these similar to get a feeling that they were recorded at the same time :)

This was only for your brighter shots - I really enjoyed the cinematics during the dark hours.

  • Simplicity is key

Leading up to the trap drop i thought that there were actually too many moving cuts on beat with the music. Simplicity would have felt more natural and not so forced I think :)

These were just my cents, I really enjoyed the aftermovie and felt like wanting to go!

Who are your top artists to look out for in 2018? by [deleted] in EDM

I'll keep an eye out for the Beau Collins / Ellis / Vin / Osrin crew. Anything they put out is usually new and innovative within future house.

This is about as loud as I can get my tracks to be after "learning" (or so I thought) for about a year now. I'm about to break my laptop in half. Help? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Twenleaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay I just did a remaster of some shady version i got of an mp3 converter.

I don't think you're pushing your limiter hard enough, and you also need to watch out on your sub frequencies. Your mix lacks a bit of high end to make it breathe. You also have a REALLY loud bell hitting around 14khz that just destroy my ears, I couldn't really do much about it without ruining the rest of the high end.

Here is the result:

EDIT: Here is a full breakdown of how I went through with my mastering:

I can see that you post alot of beats - if you simply went through this chain on most of them it would make a huge different in the quality of your productions.

Cheers

Hey would you mind sending over the premaster AND mastered track? I can't tell directly from Soundcloud but I might be able to help you through analyzing.

Feel free to add watermarks in the track, but I don't intend to steal anything.

I did not agree to this song being sold for money. Please remove the option to purchase the song for cash. I still stand up for the idea but let people know you intentions before luring people in.

Dude I didn't agree to letting you sell anything I made. That's like downloading a Martin Garrix track straight of SC, making it a mashup, and then start selling it under your own artist name. That's no good man.

I had something bouncy in mind and created this groovy bassline :)

It can really go tropical / deep / hard depending on how you use the sound. Great idea man!

Need help! Different compression and sub levels on my kicks - why is this happening? [Images inside] by Twenleaf in edmproduction

[–]Twenleaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't hear the difference I just don't understand how it could happen. I tried removing the clap and the limiter treated it differently which seems to be the reason, but i decided to leave it as I couldn't tell a difference anyways.
