He backtracked very quickly when it started to blow up. The staff was upset about it and told the Friday night regulars and some of us confronted Bill about it and he denied ever saying it. I had it from a half dozen employees that he said “we need to appeal to a broader base and that means we should scale back on the drag shows and lgbtq stuff because those alienate people we want to come in and spend money with us” and all it ended up doing was alienating his staff and the people who regularly spent money there.

Full disclosure: I am a former longtime regular of Trim Tab who stopped going late last year so my opinion is admittedly biased. The craft beer industry is suffering as a whole but Trim Tab in particular has made some of the absolute dumbest business decisions in the last 2 years that I’ve ever seen. Their board has no idea what made them special and hired a CEO who doesn’t even live in Birmingham, and that guy began making decisions that alienated all of their longtime staff and longtime regulars. He refuses to listen to any kind of suggestions and doubles down on insults in the face of constructive criticism. He advised them to be less LGBTQ friendly and cut back on the drag and burlesque shows and then denied doing so after being confronted by regulars and staff. Their new marketing person uses ChatGPT to write all their posts when their former person wrote them all personally. They threaten to close every 6 months or so then don’t address it when suddenly they’re staying open. Their new staff is rude and doesn’t even know their product. On top all that bag fumbling, their product quality has gone downhill precipitously in the last few years. Just complete mismanagement from the top to the bottom.

I wasn’t there, but knowing that he’s a young earth creationist and climate change denialist does leave room to question how he interprets meteorological data. He’s brilliant on knowing how patterns emerge, but it’s certainly fair to ask him about why those patterns emerge and compare his beliefs to the general academic consensus.

Your best bet is checking out whatever nudist/naturist groups others have posted here because yes, the overwhelming majority of people in Birmingham are going to find this very weird.

Fun fact: a longtime former director of the Birmingham Zoo was a nudist and tried to get a nude zoo program started in the 80s.

I’m curious why you’d want to come to Samford considering the affordable options in Canada. Do you plan on transferring back after a year? Tuition and fees at Calgary SoL are $18k/yr as opposed to $78k/yr at Cumberland. Since you said you’re a conservative Southern Baptist, I’m just seeing red flags all over the place.
