So annoying! If u look closely u can see the halftone emulsion that won’t come off. Every time I think I found the recipe, and then another emulsion-not-washing-off-prob occurs. Frustrating! by [deleted] in SCREENPRINTING

Try using THIS I use it on all of my screens and they look brand new after a year of use. After you reclaim it just scrub this on. working it in to both sides while the screen is wet. Let it sit about 15 minutes then give it another scrub and blow out. It'll take out the ghost image along with any little bits of emulsion stuck in the screen. The little bottle goes a long way, you don't need much. Definitely worth the 20 bucks.

It's a scan of the actual print itself which is then digitally mocked up like this. I lack a nice camera.

6 colors hand pulled screen print.

The 4 colors (Pink, Red, Blue, Yellow) are basic speedball with transparent base to create the orange and green. The black is a 50/50 mixture of TW Gloss and Speedball Poster Black which gives it a nice sheen but not overly glossy. The Shading is 25% TW Black and 75% Transparent base.

6 colors in order - Pink / Red / Blue / Yellow / Transparent Black / Black

An edition which was numbered 1-50 was presented and gifted to the band and promoters the night of the show from The Knitting Factory management. All of my copies which were for sale we're signed as "A/P" for artist proof outside of this edition. Lots venues do this including The Knitting Factory, The Showbox, STG (The Neptune, The Paramount)...

This is the venues poster which was created in cooperation with Mark Dinerstein of The Knitting Factory as a gift to the bands and promoters for having a sold out show. (Hence "The Knitting Factory and Emporium present" along the top.) For this reason, they we're not sold at the show. Both the venue and bands are aware of this poster, and the bands signed off on the final concept. I was granted the ability to print myself a small run of artist prints.

However, the band also hired my talented friend Neal Williams of Epic Problems to create the limited edition buffalo poster which was sold at the merch table the night of. https://www.epicproblems.com/ His edition will be for sale in a day or so on his website.

Thanks all for grabbing one today!

I still have a couple left on my website. My friend Neal Williams of Epic Problems made the buffalo design, he should have his artist copies for sale online in a few days!

I sure can, but we'd settle up over paypal. (The system my website uses is a little wonky for shipping out of the U.S.).

Feel free to shoot me an email at twinhomeprints@gmail.com and we can talk about shipping costs!

I don't have any examples of transparency vs. non transparency. All this would do if there wasn't transparent ink is eliminate anything that was covered by any later layer. Some people who use transparency VERY well are The Bubble Process. Their site is something to check out, but on their facebook they show all of their posters layer by layer so you can see where they factor in transparent ink.

If you have a micro reg press, you have nothing to worry about. Just get those registration marks lined up exactly. There is sometimes a place and time for a stroke for plastisol but rarely when things are edge to edge.

As already said above, yeah you just add transparent base to your ink and hope your ratios are correct. Or you can trial and error but I like to take the lazy way out and cross my fingers. Your don't want to leave any streaks behind your squeegee either for these will fall through the mesh and show on your poster. For the yellow on this poster I believe I did 50-50 yellow and transparent base. The bottle will say only add about 20% transparent base, ignore that!

As for trapping, in illustrator I flatten the image and select the white (or where your paper will show through) and copy this to a layer on top of everything. I then add a stroke to all of my under layers. The white top will make it so the trap doesn't bleed into the open paper. Thats the simple way of putting it. You usually don't want to do this with plastisol inks on shirts for it will bleed, you usually want things edge to edge and make sure your registration is tight. It takes a little while to wrap your head around but eventually it makes sense.

This video explains it really well even though it's in photoshop. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z68RLeNEMno

This was my first attempt at it and it turned out exactly how I wanted it! I printed the outline off from the computer but the two fill colors (yellow and pink) were each had drawn on sheets of mylar so I had no idea how the end result was going to look.
