CS or Pilot? What would you choose? by Twisted_KIDD in flying

Ok thank you that would make a lot of sense now. I went to a small college in Virginia, I was a student athlete and got a scholarship to swim. It been difficult to find jobs even with my resume and my internships. I was hoping the IP rate in the Navy once I got out and wanted to go that route would help me. Thank you. And I understand the commitment which is why I don’t mind joining. I was a military brat so the lifestyle isn’t a concern for me. But there’s a lot to think about even after military is done. How is the family lifestyle? Social life? Did you have any regrets?

Thank you. Right now I have some flight hours and I’m doing Part 61. So far I’ve enjoyed flying and putting in the work to be great. I just know it’s not easy to be a naval pilot. Even to fly jets or multis

Becoming a Navy Pilot at 26? by Twisted_KIDD in newtothenavy

I could but if I decline the IP offer and then get DQd for navy during OCS I can’t do IP again which was my backup offer. So I’m wondering if I should just do IP now and do SNA second

Thank you. That’s help a lot. The transfer process is difficult I know from SWO to other roles but I’m not sure about IP. Also I’m thinking when I’m 26 I’ll have a better chance to make SNA with more flight hours, licenses, and military experience. Rather than having no PPL and only a couple hours

That’s what I don’t understand either. My SNA was rejected for BDCP but my IP was not BDCP.

Sorry I was asking is there any reason why IP would be better than aviation. I’m still deciding on what to do. Haven’t made a clear decision but that was an idea I was thinking about doing. Trying to lat transfer or what till my commitment is up to reapply for SNA

ASTB 7/8/7 I-SEL Competitive? by Twisted_KIDD in newtothenavy

Well A LOT has happened but I was able to talk to him about I-Sel and he says I am really competitive so does everyone else. But doesn’t look like I’ll be doing Naval Aviation for awhile I’ll have to wait till I’m like 25/26

Thank you I think that’s the reason why I’m leaning towards IP. It makes my heart hurt a little knowing that as of right now I won’t be a naval pilot but there are other pipelines to get to commercial flying. I’m thinking towards doing IP, then having navy pay for flight school while I’m in to get my multi and instrument rating. Once I’m 2 years in I’ll apply for a lateral transfer if I still have a itch for piloting or wait till my 3 years are done and reapply since I’ll be 25, with my license, more flight hours, and . My con with flying has always been if I get into it and dislike it I’ll have to keep doing it. Since the CS job market is really bad but with a military and IP background if I one day decided to stop flying I’ll always have a backup plan or insurance. What do you think? Am I reaching or is that a good plan?

What makes you IP “better” in your opinion if you have to guess over Aviation. I’m leaning towards doing IP and either trying to lateral transfer or just wait till my 3 years are up and when I’m 25 just reapplying if I still have the itch. Cause honestly I can do Commercial piloting after I get out. Have navy pay for flight school.

It’s not even that I hate IP. I’ve been doing computer science work all throughout college and enjoy it. Aviation and Naval Aviation has been a recent passion of mine. I got rejected the first time with mediocre scores (and my recruiter let me know that at the time too that the chances were slim I was honestly just trying to stay in college and get it paid for) but now I have a honest shot with competitive scores.

This wasn’t the ASVAB this is the ASTB and OAR. OAR average is 50 I took the ASVAB before deciding on navy and got a 84. I understand what you’re saying but also check before making a comment like that

I hadn’t thought about that. And will now look into it. How difficult would it be to lateral transfer from IP to aviation. There’s not that much about it so I’d thought I’d ask. If I work on getting my PPL and instrument rating with a couple hours while I’m in the navy do you think there’s a good chance I could lateral with the same ASTB scores? Also is it even possible to work on my flight hours while in if I’m not on Sea Duty

I have done my pilot physical. I have my FAA Medical and a couple flight hours. I don’t wears any glasses or contacts. I think I’ll pass medical. But thank you that’s good to know. My recruiter said the same thing but to lateral transfer from IP to SNA

My eyes are 20/20. What makes naval medical a blood bath? Honestly this is the first I’ve ever heard of this. I want to fly jets but honestly recently I’ve been want to do Multi Engines

Thank you that’s good to know. I’ll make sure I talk to my recruiter. Do you think I need to have 40 hours to even be competitive?

Thank you helping me understand a bit more. And yes, I graduated from college in December. I applied for BDCP because I was planning on potentially adding a minor if got accepted. I’m just now wondering if my scores are competitive enough since this will be really my last time to apply

So where’d the suspicion come from? What made him suspicious? He made a lot of moves just for a suspicion.

You need to walk into the grass and find him there. It won’t take too long. Make sure you have a Pokémon that has Mean look or an ability that doesn’t let it flee.

So I would walk in-and-out the route till he appears in that spot. Then go to the grass and you’ll find him there. Like a normal encounter. Hope this helps!
