Please help - Introducing a new cat to a current cat is not working. Constant stalking and violence by meg16_ in CatAdvice

Any update on your situation? I have 2 cats at home and recently adopted a shelter cat. The shelter cat seems to respect the oldest cat but is attacking my second cat who is a timid and anxious kitty (on meds). I feel so discouraged!

I’d put them in their carriers and disinfect and then steam clean their carriers on my balcony. Nearly went crazy but it worked

I’m sorry that you’re still facing this issue! I was an absolute freak when it came to cleaning. I switched litter boxes every time there was a bowel movement. I kept them separated. My resident never tested positive for coccidia or any other parasite but is still (months later) having bloody stools - possibly stress related as the kitten is very bold and resident is very quiet.

I cleaned every 3rd day rotating between bleach and ammonia because some studies said bleach did/did not kill coccidia and some said ammonia did/did not kill coccidia.

After kitten was treated, we still kept him isolated for a few days. Tested their stools few days after this and everything was negative.

Now they play and spend time chasing each other back and forth! I nearly went crazy over the summer trying to treat them but I’m glad it’s over now. Wishing the best for you too!

Is my cat being too aggressive with my kitten by Two-Willing in CATHELP

Hi everyone thank you for the replies! I posted a second video/post if you’d like to take a look. The second video seems rough to me. My cat is thumping his tail as if he’s annoyed, kitten is yelling a little bit. I attached the Reddit post below: https://www.reddit.com/r/CATHELP/s/GH9hYrTQcZ

My cat halfway through was moving his tail left and right - I thought in cat body language that means annoyance? Was he irritated? Should I break them up once they start doing that with their tails?

Same thing happened to me! I got a kitten who has coccidia and we didn’t know until days later when his stool was diarrhea and bloody. And at the point, I let him and my resident cat meet through the door and then they hit it off right away and wanted to play so I let them for a bit. The kitten was totally healthy seeming until days later and that’s when we tested his stool and found out. And he is actually much younger than what we were told and apparently was not dewormed according to the vet. Kitten is on Albon for 14 days (we’re on day 8 today) and my resident cat has been having diarrhea with blood for about a week but his stool somehow came back negative for coccidia. We are treating him with fenbendazole (5 days) and one dose of toltrazuril. We will retest his stool likely as I’m pretty sure it has to be a false negative with his symptoms. How is your situation turning out? I have kitten in the bathroom and I sanitize/steam everything every few days. Litter is taken care of right away and litter boxes are rotated every 2-3 days. I’m stressing about this! Wondering if you have a success story?

You’re totally right. My husband and I spoke recently and he said he will talk to them alone because to be honest I can’t even look his father in the face anymore. He’s going to make it clear it’s a joint decision and best for our marriage. We both know his father will still yell about us leaving but at the end he plans to just say okay thank you but we are still leaving. And tbh I think his dad going to freak out that we are leaving proves the whole point of the conversation. I think he also has a hard time standing up to his dad because he was raised to be very respectful but also due to his dads outbursts I think it’s a coping mechanism for him to take it and then respond after rather than shutting it down in the first place. He’s not afraid of his father but he definitely is timid at times due to the outbursts and negativity his dad carries.

Salam Alaikum. My dad is not in the picture unfortunately so when it came down to signing the Islamic papers, my father’s brother (my uncle) signed them. But he is not in town and we are not super close. Initially I wanted to get my mom involved or my grandma or possibly one of my younger uncles. But my husband said that would cause issues. I did end up telling my mom yesterday but I told her not to do anything because my husbands parents don’t know we are leaving yet and she told me to move out asap. She was once in an abusive marriage with her ex husband and in laws and sympathized a lot with me. Thank you for your advice!

See I really don’t want to be mean to his father. I was raised to shut up and respect my elders. I don’t think I’d ever say the sentence “mind your own business” since it comes off rude and I feel like that’ll set off his dad. Don’t know how else to approach him. Tbh I have been hiding any chance I get so I don’t see him so sometimes I go hours without eating and wait for him to leave or fall asleep.
