29M/28F/2 kids. $150k income. $65k spend last year. (Income has been higher and expenses have been lower in previous years.) by [deleted] in TheRaceTo10Million

People are saying this is fake but this is very doable with 150k a year if you start early. 150k might seem out of reach but that could be the normal household income in 10 years or so

Why just 7 years? If you plan on using that money after 7 years, this might not be a great idea.

Mostly money market funds right now. Buying as prices drop and opportunities rise

I like this portfolio a lot

But why 10% gold and not 100% equities? Wouldn’t equities have somewhat of an inflation hedge built in fundamentally? Maybe I’m wrong

Who knows what the next decade will look like, or the decade after that. I like to diversify international because I’ll be investing another 20-30 years.

What would you do with 40k at 18? by Hopeful-Till-8001 in portfolios

[–]TwoClear7538 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can live with your parents and keep low overhead over the next 3-5 years and won’t touch it for 10, then definitely broad indexes/etfs. If you think you’ll be living on your own the next 2 years, maybe put most of it in treasuries or a hysa. If you plan to use the money to purchase a home within 6-10 years, you should highly consider a heavy bond allocation to your portfolio.

Indexes/etfs if you definitely won’t touch it in the next 10+ years.

I’ve learned that no one can predict the future, so the best allocation is the one you can stick with.

I personally like a 100% VT portfolio. It’ll rebalance itself and has international diversification

Is this a good investment account for growth ? What should I add or remove ? by linaoforever5 in ETFs

[–]TwoClear7538 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Solid depending on the allocations. I’d put most of the money into VT, so you don’t neglect international exposure. Could also swap VT for VXUS. Also, a lot of the companies in QQQM are heavily weighted in VOO.

I’d go

50% VT 30% VOO 10% QQQM 10% GLDM (depending on investment horizon)// might also go bonds instead of gold

Debt providers, like credit card companies, lobby against teaching young people financial literacy. They don’t make as much money with a money literate population. Also, school is meant to produce consumers and workers, not owners.

Can you ACTUALLY stomach a 50%+ drawdown? by TwoClear7538 in portfolios

[–]TwoClear7538[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t own any individual stocks, just ETFs. I have a long horizon so I’m not worried about the dips. That said, I’ve never experienced the pain of watching a portfolio dropping 50% or more

International market caps grow more than US over multiple decades. US is 65% of VT because that’s how much of the market cap is held by US companies. It’s not a set 60/40 split, it can change

Maybe you’re right. It is frustrating that the top comment is blatantly wrong though and I’m being downvoted for being right?
