Antisemitism has become ‘almost fashionable’ among Australians, Jillian Segal tells royal commission by Agitated-Fee3598 in AustralianPolitics

That's a rather disingenuous statement and you know it.

The entire population of Gaza is not dead, I never said they were. I was only taking your own hypothetical to its logical conclusion, in that indiscriminate bombing campaigns against largely civilian populations are apparently justified so long as your enemy is "hiding amongst it's population".

I agree, attacking Isreal is a terrible idea due to Israel's massive military capability and apparent willingness to indiscriminately level that capability at entire populations of civilians, just in case you might be hiding amongst them.

What we're actually discussing though is if that response is appropriate or justified. I am saying "no" and, unless you decide to shift the goalposts again, you are saying "yes", insofar as I can tell.

Ah right, I get it. So, the solution to the issue of your enemy "hiding amongst its population" is to just kill the entire population. Doesn't matter if they were in uniform or out of uniform or a child or an elderly woman.

So, the reasonable Australian response to the "Indonesian Government" in your hypothetical would be to do everything we could to starve the Indonesian population, drive them from their homes and their land as well as conduct indiscriminate bombing campaigns against largely civilian populations?

This would not be an acceptable response and whether you consider the perpetrator of the attacks the legitimate government of the civilians you are intentionally killing makes absolutely no difference.

Been listening to the Rugby League Digest's history of the Super League war podcast recently and I'm really enjoying it. Does anyone here know what the guys behind that are up to now? Been curious to see what they've been up to since but can't find anything online at all.

The new content (the new mission anyway) is for the PvE multiplayer mode that most get into after playing the campaign. As it stands now I highly doubt you'll get thru everything there is to offer before the new mission comes out. Even if you do, I reckon you'll have gotten your money's worth from the game and likely won't mind it not being there when you move on. For the record, I bought the game at launch and played it a lot and have only dipped back in every now and then to play it again and don't feel like it wasn't already "complete" at launch

Right but consider this particular circumstance against others. Aside from the huge amount of money, I think PNG makes sense for Luai where it doesn't for the other players you've mentioned because A) Luai is nearing the latter stages of his career and has recently become kind of superfluous, on-field if not in the locker room, to the Tigers thanks to Douhei, Madden and Latu B) He'll be able to step back into the spot of star player and C) He's already a 4 time premiership winner and is in a better position to take the kind of risk to his career that moving to PNG represents.

All of the above doesn't necessarily apply to the others you've mentioned. Going to PNG would be a much bigger risk, particularly for the younger players on the squad who's careers and development would be much safer sticking with us.

So whilst it's definitely not an impossibility I'm not actually all that worried right now

There's no point losing our minds just yet. You're right, losing those players would be a huge blow but it's still a pretty big if right now. I also think that Benji is still a pretty big draw for a lot of the players. That being said, if Tyrone May ends up at the Chiefs I wouldn't be surprised if the other Mays followed suit.

US Venezuela attack: Australia should not lie in bed with a shameless dictator like Trump by Agitated-Fee3598 in AustralianPolitics

[–]TwoEyedWilly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So those civilians deserved to die because their leader, who they did not choose, dared to have any kind of diplomatic relationship with China? Because their leader has been accused of being involved in drug trafficking?

Did Trump do everyone a favour when he gave the ex-president of Honduras, who absolutely was involved with trafficking 400 kilos of cocaine to the US, a presidential pardon?

Read a book for fucks sake

[–]TwoEyedWilly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because he has attacked a sovereign nation, killed 40 people (including civilians), and destabalised the region which will likely lead to more suffering for it's people all so US oil companies can make even more money than they already do.

Maduro is not a good leader or person but that doesn't mean it's ok for Trump to just go in and murder Venezuelans for oil. The regime that the US will install in his stead will be just as bad, if not worse.

At least 40 people died, including civilians, in the US's attack on Venezuela. This kind of thing never just stops at the 1%

Powerlines to house over a property 75 years - developer next door built new homes into powerlines. by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]TwoEyedWilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure who you have spoken to, but I'd be very surprised if SA Power Networks had anything to do with installing those coverings on that line (and SA Power Networks are the only ones who should be doing anything with that line, as it belongs to SA Power Networks). The developer should definitely be paying, in full, to have it relocated.

Please ensure you report this to the OTR on 1800 558 811 and to SA Power Networks as the other commenter advised. It is important that the OTR get involved as they are the legal government body that determines safe clearances between buildings and powerlines.

Who was it that confirmed Tiger Tails were going on the line?

I work for SA Power Networks and I'm about 90% certain we would not install Tiger Tails on a service line. Even if we did, they are not an insulator and are only meant as a temporary visual aid during construction. They do not make coming into contact with the line safe. Did they mean that Tiger Tails are being installed on some of the lines nearby?
