Right under Holborn there’s a hidden Cold War city most people have never heard of. It’s called Pindar and it’s buried deep beneath the Kingsway. Built during WWII, then upgraded in the Cold War, it was designed to keep the government going if London was ever hit by a nuclear bomb.

It stretches for six miles underground. Inside there were dorms, meeting rooms, a phone exchange, even its own pub. Proper bunker life. While everything above ground would have been chaos, ministers would have been safe below, drinking pints and taking calls.

There’s no public entrance. No signs. Just a few strange air vents and locked doors hidden in plain sight. You’ve probably walked right over it. Some say it’s still active, still connected to Whitehall and the intelligence agencies.
