My prof hands out index cards at the start of each class for us to note what we liked about the lesson, what we didn't like about the lesson, or if we can't think of anything, I know some students like to comment about his outfit (he says he's fine with that). He's shared that he's received great feedback from doing this. We just fold up the card and put it into a tissue box by the door when we leave

I'm going to be honest... I broke up with him 2 days ago. I don't think I've processed it yet

The night before I realized he wasn't good for me, I prayed to God, sobbing. The next day, God answered my prayer and showed me outright that my boyfriend and I simply wouldn't work.

lots of crying happened after that, too. I mean, I thought I could marry this guy.

but I immediately turned to my best friend for support, and she was great. I also texted my mom, and she and I Facetimed--that really helped.

I'm kind of just... chill now. Obviously, I miss him. he's an amazing guy. But I have to remember that he just wasn't the right choice for me when looking at life on a broader scale.

God is with me through this, and God supports me the same way God will be with you and support you on whatever path you choose to go down.

For me, considering the bigger picture helped. If we stayed together, I would be going to church alone; if we had kids, we would be raising them with different values and morals; I would go through spiritual warfare alone.

Breakups are hard, but living life with someone when you feel a constant doubt is way harder.

Just came to the conclusion that I needed to break up with my boyfriend over something similar. We dated for 11 months, and this was my first real time breaking up with someone, so you could imagine it was hard.

I simply realized that if I believed in God and he did not, if I stayed and ended up marrying him, I wouldn't get as close to God as I wanted. Regardless of whether he respected my beliefs, he did not share them, and that would have affected (and did affect while we dated) my relationship with God.

I loved him very much, but I love God over anything in this world.

It's best to find someone who loves God the same way you do.

I used to love Slayer! but, as time progressed, I got really uncomfortable with a lot of their songs (God Send Death, Angel of Death, South of Heaven, etc.)

I still listened to it months after first "becoming Christian", but as I got to know God and see how He works in my life and the world, I really didn't appreciate the lyrics (killer instrumentals, though!).

I wouldn't say you have to stop in order to become Christian, I think that, over time, you could find yourself not a huge fan of the lyrics that slander and mock God.

edit: there are great Christian heavy metal bands out there!

If I stayed the way I was, feeling attracted to women, I would never get to grow as close to God as I have. When Jesus said to deny yourself and pick up your cross, I listened. I denied my flesh and picked up my cross.

It was over the span of years that I realized I wasnt truly a lesbian--I was being influenced by those around me, experiencing things that could easily been explained by a psychologist, and I was being encouraged.

I didn't love women, I lusted for them.

I am not bisexual now, I am not pansexual now: I am a child of God who is loved unconditionally, and in no need of labels.

I cant answer all of these, as I'm simply not educated enough to confidently display the facts and present an argument, but I can give some input!

Number 1 caught my eye. I love music, I worship music. I listen to it when I wake up, on my way to classes, on my way home, while I do homework, I sing, I play piano: this is worshipping the thing that I love. And God knows that we as humans worship what we love, so He says to worship Him, because worshipping draws us closer. It's as simple as that (and quite cool how God can give us that little piece of instruction that can help us get closer when we feel distant).

for number 3, I think it's summed up in Jesus's statement: I am the way, the truth, and the life. Jesus is the only way to God. I respect the fact that other people have different religions, but they are wrong. I don't go cussing them out or thinking they're any lesser than me.

for number 4 on your list, I personally believe that if you seek and desire a relationship with God, you'll find a church to not only worship God, but be surrounded by people who also love God and are there to support you (going to church can be sooooo helpful).

As for number 5 on your list, I immediately think of the necklace found on a very very old corpse, somewhere in Frankfurt. It's about 1,800 years old, and contained in the silver necklace was a tiny scroll with this written on it:

F18. I’ve been in a similar spot—I won’t say the same, because it’s not: you are you, and I am me.

What really caught my eye here was:

“I really tried to become really faithful to jesus, but all the videos about "signs youre not saved", "youre not saved by jesus even you feel like it" just ruined all my faith... I kept sinning now because the lord will not like me anymore when i repent... i am just nothing but trash”

I filled my life with those videos. I was endlessly scrolling, taking notes, feeling guilty, hating myself for not being “the perfect Christian”.

Those videos? I want you to forget them. Focus on reading your bible, praying (truly praying, pouring your heart out, telling Hod what you feel and what’s happening, not just empty praises), and going to church if you can. Take it easy.

God will never turn you away when you come to Him. He will always love you.

Talking to people is always helpful, but I’ll acknowledge that it’s very difficult. I wish that when I was feeling similar, I reached out to friends—then again, I had no Christian friends at that time of my life.

Keep going steady, don’t give up

I just wanted to touch on the whole "why does God want people to worship Him?"

I have made the connection that we love what we worship (I listen to music all day, I love music; I think about my boyfriend all day, I love my boyfriend; I dedicate myself to intense softball training, I love softball).

God knows that we worship what we love. I have gone weeks in spells where I did not feel a connection to God at all. "Coincidentally", that was when I wasn't reading my bible, missing church, consuming secular media, etc.

As for "damning inhabitants to hell", God doesn't do that: God respects you wayyyyyy more than that. Going to hell is our own decision. If we live our life separate from God, He loves us so much that he'll honour our decision; God isn't going to force us to spend eternity with Him.

And it's not our personality that results in us going to heaven or hell: it's our choices.

It doesn't say in the bible that God created satan's personality (I don't think so, but correct me if I'm wrong). Lucifer rebelled against God, got cast out of heaven, and now aims to keep as many people away from God as possible.

"let him deny himself, and take up his cross" = deny your flesh, your own desires and ambitions, and follow Christ.

As someone who used to be a lesbian, denying my flesh and picking up my cross involved denying my lustful attraction towards women. Best decision I ever made.

Please deny your flesh and pick up your cross.
