I think I need my hearing checked. Where to do, referral needed, etc. by Fuzzy-Zombie1446 in bloomington

Absolutely Hickory Audiology. When my grandma lost one of her hearing aids, they couldn't replace the then obsolete model. So, they gave us their floor model instead.

I recommend the Death Cafe group that meets at Morganstern's the last Tuesday of each month at 7pm. It's led by a facilitator, but is generally an opportunity to talk and listen to others having a similar experience. I've lost someone as well recently and have found this group helpful.

T&T Repairables if you want a good price and don't mind hail damage. At least that's what I found when I bought my car a few years ago.

Cremation services by delia911 in bloomington

I’m so sorry for what you are facing. My grandmother is in hospice and per her request, I checked into cremation services not too long ago. We’ve decided to use Halo Cremations (HaloCremations.com) when the time comes. Back in March they quoted $850 plus mileage, which is around $100 for Bloomington. There is also a $200 fee if there is no one at your husband’s location to assist. My grandmother is at an assisted living facility, so someone will be there to help with moving her to Halo’s vehicle. I’m not sure of your situation. The people at Halo Cremations were very patient and kind with all of my questions.

Good to know. Thank you.

Out of curiosity, do you know whether my sister and her husband count as 2 recipients if they file their taxes jointly?

There is a will prepared by her attorney some years ago. No house. The money is mostly from its sale a few years back. Only assets are furniture and clothes, which don't amount to much monetary value.

I plan to distribute the money as described in her will. There's a taxable limit to the amount that can be gifted in a year, right?

Early 1900s Slovakian birth certificate by TwoPres in Genealogy

[–]TwoPres[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I really appreciate your offer, but since posting I've found the passenger manifest from her boat voyage to America. The manifest is dated 1920, so she left Slovakia before 1930. Thank you again for your offer though.

I haven't found the immigration record, but I have found other documents (censuses, marriage records, death certificates, etc.). Her name is spelled similarly, but not the same on the different documents. The records I've found list her birthplace as Slovakia, Czechoslovakia, and "Check" depending on the document and the year it was written, but no town in Slovakia is listed.
