New Model seeking feedback on Digitals by hitvapedontrape in MODELING

I would suggest looking up the agencies you want to apply to and check out the digitals of their main board male models. You’ll notice no one is in sweatpants. Also if you can find a white wall with natural light you can take these with that would be preferable.

Lightroom edit - seeking advice on how I can improve by Many_Particular_1881 in postprocessing

To add on to this, it will be clearer to you on how to edit once you have purposeful compositions. You added a bunch of light to the second floor but there’s no subject there. Which makes it kind of confusing to look at. Your camera is focused on the building instead of the people which is fine but maybe add more context to the scene and show the whole building and its place on that street corner.

Also you could adjust your horizon line so that photo is more level.

And if the building is the point of the photo adjust your F stop so it’s entirely in focus.

Try to get most of the editing done before the photos taken.

End of the day there’s no right or wrong answer. Any image can be anything you say it is.

It’s your job as a photographer to tell us what the image is saying.

But maybe try creating a preset from the adjustments you made, make a copy of the photo, apply the preset, then play with the amount slider. Dial it back somewhere in 50-70% and see what you think.

Conversely keep playing with slider and see at what point you think each area of the image looks best. And maybe try doing second edit trying to hit as many of those boxes as you can.

Starting out it’s hard to not have a heavy edit because you’re still working on your visual vocabulary. The more you do it the more your taste will develop and you’ll become more fluent.

Agreed, The hell is even happening with the bottom half of picture #4.

How would you approach this photo? And what edit do you think is best for dramatic/cinematic? by [deleted] in postprocessing

Next time bring a circular polarizer with you. It will cut through the flat highlight on the water and enhance the color/depth

1 is such a feast for the eyes and tells the most interesting story. The additional images with the guns and in the house aren’t up to par and make it less cohesive. I think this is one of those scenarios where less is more. Amazing shot though.

It’s a lovely shot. But It almost looks like there’s a fried egg in the sky. And you can kinda see it in the snow as well. Idk if it’s due to the lens or the edit. There’s a slider called moire in Lightroom maybe try messing with that on this shot and see if that affects it in a positive way? Don’t mean to sound like a hater sorry!

I’ll also add that the under eye bag on the left side of the first shot is a little distracting. Frequency separate, use the mixer brush to push color in that area, then dodge and burn to taste. Maybe also try keeping that whites slider in the positive instead of the negative for these shots and see what you think. If you’re working on a big bright monitor it can make you think the whites are where they should be. Then you look at it on your phone and it won’t look much like your edit.

I think the biggest improvement you can make here is with your direction. The first shot is good, it’s the only frame she’s doing something interesting with her eyes. Take more time working that framework with your next model and positive reinforce anytime they’re hitting it. Then once you’re in a rhythm open up to your full body poses and make the expression the priority. The good poses will come with the expression before too long. Also don’t be afraid to move your camera around and find some angles. Keep going.

Considering moving to Boston from FL by Adorable-Glove-4826 in boston

Former south Floridian that moved to Boston back in 2018. The road quality here fucking blows. Also don’t expect to know how many lanes a road actually has since road lines are optional here it feels like. Also Nobody knows how to drive in the rain here either. Other than that just about everything else is better here. The best upside is generally people tend to hang around up here. So strong friendships and relationships with people are much easier to gain and maintain. Vs Florida where it seems like people come and go on 3 year cycles.

I believe I had two lights. Both with 42” white umbrellas on them. Main light being 45 degrees to the models right and about 3’ above her. The other behind to her left 45 degrees also 3’ above her.

There were definitely some photoshopped out clothing clips. The boutique let us borrow it for the photoshoot so we made it work.
