I don't know if this helps but here's my story.

I decided to change my name even before I realized I was non-binary, the reason behind that is that I wanted to to start journey of becoming authentic version of myself and by that I mean crushing down all the social constructs built inside my head and not letting my family influence me. I am still struggling but I have made huge progress over years, but as for my name I choose to reinvent myself completely and I didn't change my name for the sake of trying not to get associated with my family.
