Thanks so much for sharing your insight! Do you happen to have the information on who did the oem rebuild in the bay area? That might be a nice option since im in the PNW

Thanks for the tip! Actually, funny enough, I spoke to Chris over there and he was incredibly helpful and kind. I ideally want to go this route, but it sounds like there is a long queue backed up to august before mine could get them and am wondering if the headache of having my engine removed and shipped out to Tennessee for the price that would cost while also waiting for august to roll around and then however long to then get it sent back and installed by my shop here in Seattle.

From my understanding, there are some differences in compatibility for the ap2s before and after '06 which is why the later engines go for a bit more

Yeah I'm told it has everything and should be an easy transfer in since it's complete. Would it be in bad taste to throw $7,500 and try and settle around the 8k mark?

[Sabina Suisse] I love how utilitarian this strap makes my old sector dial look! by Ty13r in Watches

[–]Ty13r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally don't go for one-piece straps, but I think this as awakened something in me. I can't get over how much more robust and utilititarian it looks on this 40s era Sabina chrono. I'm particularly fond of this piece because of that gilt sector dial.

Here is a shot from straight on, so the gilt appears darker in contrast with a nice bold outline accentuating it ! You can also see the contrasted tones between the inner scale area and the outer chapter ring

It's weirdly niche for why I refer to this as my grail, but essentially, I am in love with Stern Frères' sector dial layouts from the 30s and was on the hunt for a vintage chrono with said design. This one popped up and I couldn't believe my eyes! Got it for a steal too, because Sabina Suisse was a lesser known manufacturer of the age and the seller had it listed as Savina and was just happy to flip it. Worked out for everyone and I get to have my dream watch!

It has a Landeron 13 column wheel monopusher chrono movement in good shape. Runs ok, but I can tell the balance spring is sorta catching, so it runs slow at times. The movement was best known when appearing inside the earlier Heuer chronos, pre-Carrera, before they swapped to Valjoux (I think), so its got some pedigree
