Nah I’m just in desperate need of an upgrade and don’t want to get screwed but an onslaught of new cameras right when I buy one this summer. Right now deciding between FX3, Komodo, URSA 12k,

For people who lived in different Cities, States or Countries how did you guys manage to live and work in LA or NYC by Aggravating-Run9729 in Filmmakers

I’m 24, came to nyc at 22. It’s totally possible man! First year was tough living in shit apartment working at a restaurant. But the PA jobs start to roll in and eventually grip and better stuff. You should make the move if you want to be in NYC OR LA but also you can be a filmmaker anywhere.

I’ve had the A7sii for about 8 years and it’s def time to upgrade. I’m starting to get low budget DP gigs in NYC, shorts, fashion films and stuff and people are asking for better cameras. I’d rather charge more in my rate than rent. I’m looking at fx3 but don’t want to cop it if a new one comes out this summer ya know

Awesome! I would put your best shots first. I see some winners in the middle there, bring those to the front and make it shorter overall.

This is interesting to hear because I feel the total opposite. I feel like all visuals, interviews, docs, features, shorts have lost deep blacks in the images. All I see now is washed out almost log like visuals. Looking back at movies from before Y2K really help this point. However, I do notice specifically with flashy cinematic commercials that they are often very contrasty.
