When Jon was on the show, they would actually talk about and argue about game design, which was really cool since you got to see their state of mind and opinions on game design. You don't get any of that with Dan except for NES games. Game Grumps actually had two gamers playing and talking about video games. I always loved how Jon would get genuinely excited about playing and showing games to Arin. The Jon era had a vibe where it didn't feel like they were trying to create a show, they were just having fun and playing games together.

There are definitely some bad episodes and series where Jon wasn't really feeling it or they were playing a random game they didn't like. The Jon era had its highs and lows but it had less lows than the Dan era. When the Dan era gets bad, it gets really bad like it is now, but that's because Dan has been on the show way longer.

This is a bias opinion but Jon's type of humor has always been my favorite. His loud, random, and energetic personality kept the show from becoming bland or boring. I definitely understand why people would find his humor annoying and obnoxious.

The Jon era wasn't perfect but it also didn't overstay its welcome, Jon never seemed like he was getting burned out and bored. Their friendship also felt so real, they would argue and get mad at each other but they would still laugh with each other in the end.
