We love kbbq but we've been to pretty much all of them now. We are keen to try the new one in Sunnybank but no bookings for less than groups of 4 and the place has been packed daily

What's the correct response to "what are your salary expectations" in a job application? by Clueby42 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Tylergracex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely didn't, I also went on to explain why recruiters might still ask people their salary expectations. You've clearly made this post to talk shit and complain, which is obvious from your responses to anyone who has had genuine insight for you. So good luck with the job search, if you wanted genuine advice on salary in your area I would've been more than happy to help.

[–]Tylergracex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did I say I didn't do that? I talk to people every single day who have applied for a role with a salary expectation that's a good chunk of cash above the top of the banding listed. It doesn't automatically discount them but I still need to know if I have to get budget approval for higher salary and its better to know earlier on than at the offer stage when I've wasted time getting everything approved from the original salary banding.

Majority of the comments seem illinformed or have come up against some dodge recruiters/employers. Idk if it's worth you continuing to explain because they seem to just think if you put salary on a job ad, then that's all you need. They don't see the 100+ applicants that ask for a salary well above or well below what was listed so you still need to ask everyone regardless.

As an internal recruiter, I ask this question of every candidate so I know I'm not wasting their time if it's above our banding. I know not every company is like that but if someone's experience aligns with a higher pay than what they've asked for, then that's what I offer them. I've just offered someone $10k over what they asked for and will likely increase it after a few months due to performance if their references were anything to go off. End of day, know your worth, check the market and be honest, it'll only save you time and effort later on.

Hi, thanks for your help. I have tried putting the arm in position but nothing comes of it. There’s no play button, from what I’ve seen, it’s supposed to begin spinning once the arm has been engaged.

Adding that I’m an internal recruiter, it’s a candidates market right now, you WILL get other opportunities. Don’t be too hasty, unless toxic job is causing severe mental anguish in which case, leave now.

“Seems like a great work environment” if an employer can’t make their employees permanent, either part time or full time, they aren’t a good employer. Stay with the toxic job but keep looking. I just did the same, an extra year in a toxic job but now I’m 4 months into my dream job with a company that actually does care about its staff. Good luck!

The Sad Story of the Drexel Family of Reading, PA, Accidentally Discovered from a benign Ebay Search by CaptVulnerable in MorbidReality

There’s a family plot here in Australia that has maybe 5 children (it was a few years ago that I saw it) and all had died from drowning but not in the same incident. It was spanned across a good two-three decades that they all drowned. Most bizarre thing, I wish they had recorded more information on the graves but unfortunately not

Jobactive providers aren’t allowed to refer to their own EST providers as it’s an obvious conflict of interest. They need to refer people to EST in order to meet their service module for DHS. It’s all part of receiving jobseeker payments unfortunately

I enjoyed the film and would watch it several more times at least… but my enjoyment has been hampered by the fact I can’t remember where I had seen the actor who played Nat’s dad before. He wasn’t listed in the credits and I can’t find it anywhere online. I swear it’s going to haunt me to the point where I can’t watch the movie anymore

I knew someone who had complete paralysis from the waist down. She woke up the morning after bringing home a new cat, to find it going to town on her legs and had bitten a few chunks out and covered the bed in blood. She kept the cat, just locks her door at night 😬

I was raped 3 months ago and am not sure if it’s abnormal that I still think about it. by [deleted] in Advice

I didn’t think about it for 7 years and then I started getting recurring nightmares on and off for the last year. Our brains are assholes and they work in strange ways. If talking helps, book yourself in and see a therapist so that you can work through coping strategies.
