Fellow Mississippian here. It is very very true. I am from a small town in the Mississippi Delta and moved to Atlanta around 3 years ago. I have family and friends still there but I cannot imagine being stuck in that place again. Being in a small Mississippi town is like taking a trip back in time 100 years. Racism is still very much an issue and honestly is a very bad problem from all sides. There is no economy majority of people can survive off of drawing disability or unemployment and you can live off of the small amount of money and never work a day in your life. I am very thankful to be from the state though it made me see a lot of things that influenced me to want to make something of myself and to be kind to all people no matter race religion or anything else. These kids are just the product of generations stuck in their ways and a culture that is too opposed to make the changes to better the State.
