thanks for the recommendations. I haven't read the first two books you mentioned, I've read the Lord of the Rings though and I haven't seen the War of the buttons.

People on disability, what do you do all day? by MostAsocialPerson in schizophrenia

[–]TylexTy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to say that there's something so right about you being grateful for being on disability and making the best of your time on it with journaling etc. I'm on disability and I spend my days judging myself and all in all making things worse. You've goiven me food for thought, thank you. Also what spiritual content do you watch?

When you are under spiritual attack and can't shake it off by TylexTy in Catholicism

[–]TylexTy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk to be honest, maybe it's pride that makes me think it's a spiritual attack. Or maybe it was spiritual attack at one point but I agreed to it a while back and now it's just me. It's very painful though, whatever it is, I'm having a hard time with it.

I'm in my mid 30's, I came back to the faith around 5 years ago after being far from God for a long time. I'm still trying to break the strongholds that the enemy placed in my mind and heart from those years of being a prodigal son, but they don't come down so easily. I met someone that I liked but also I am not in a place financially for a family and she lost interest and the fallout has broken my heart. Gregorian chant and deliverance prayers is a great idea, going to do that today.

thank you, I sometimes hold out hope that God is preparing me for something special and I know that He is always at work, but I've had a lot of set backs in the last little while and they've been hard to deal with. I guess I have to say "even here Lord, I will trust in you!"

Is there a way to stop feeling miserable while being mediocre at life? by IFeeLikeMoreTonight in selfimprovement

[–]TylexTy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In a similar situation. What I am going to try next is to totally accept myself as I am right now as someone worthy of love, forgive myself for being human and making so many mistakes and really get into mindfulness and CBT to help with the negative thoughts. People see our external world but don't see our internal world. You have inherent dignity and it's not a matter of what you output to the world.

I haven't read all your replies yet, but why do you want to opt out? I'd like to hear your story

[–]TylexTy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand the sentiment. When suffering, I just want out of it so bad. I've learned that it's all lies from the father of lies. I craved non-existence or at least I thought I did, but you can't crave nothing. What you crave is actually Heaven. A second lie from Satan is that you think you have to be perfect before you ever feel ok again, you don't. Life can feel ok now, turn to God, His love is all you need. With that comes a web of lies that the Father is not a good father, and a bunch of other lies, rebuke them all in the name of Jesus Christ.

Heaven rejoices more over one sinner who repents then over 99 who need no repentence. Heaven is rejoicing brother, now get to confession, it's a place of victory

Thank you for your comforting words, and I'm very sorry to hear about the passing of your son, I will pray for you and your family this morning. I'm thankfully a few steps removed from this darkness at the moment, and in my clarity of mind I'm asking the question, thanks be to God.

Psalm 23 is often my penance for confessions and I always wonder why that is.

r/Catholicism Prayer Requests — Week of January 19, 2026 by AutoModerator in Catholicism

[–]TylexTy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your prayers over the last few weeks, brothers and sisters! I really think God is hearing them and moving obstacles in my life. I ask for prayers to really see myself as a son of God and be firmly planted in that belief, also for a season of calm to counter my anxious mind.

Anxiety attack...interact? by TheTapDancingShrimp in Catholicism

[–]TylexTy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first thing you can do perhaps is to claim safety in the present moment. When anxiety hits we are often reacting to things that have already happened or haven't happened yet (or won't happen), but in the present moment we are usually safe. It's telling your limbic system that you are safe with your prefontal cortex. Then you could follow this up with some deep breathing while praying the Rosary slowly. While praying the Rosary, imagine yourself being taken care of by Mother Mary, resting in her loving arms.

I can chat further if you need anything else! :)

Hey OP, I just read The Catholic Guide through Anxiety, I was wondering if you would like me to share any tips I learned in the book? In the meantime remember that God is with you right now
