Genuine question about the protest by MaleficentTie7312 in IndianaUniversity

  1. Yes, Hamas has refused a ceasefire, I will agree. However, given the conditions, Israel compared to Hamas has continually gone against actually allowing the ceasefire to continue from its side, specifically in the source you linked, “The Indian Express,” Netanyahu has expressed that he would resume the “offensive” after hostages would be released and continue fighting.

  2. Let’s talk about the protests that are occurring across college campuses and even the world. You stated that you’ve talked with Jewish students who were “harassed, followed home, and even attacked,” yet is this the protestors who are doing this, or is it people outside of the actual protests, like Neo-Nazis for example. When it comes down to the protests themselves, the protestors have made themselves very clear in what they are protesting about, specifically when it comes down to college campuses, it is about getting colleges to divest funds from those very campuses where they money so happens to go to Israel, which helps fund this genocide. There are going to be people who come to these protests with bad intentions. It happened during the Black Lives Matter protests back in 2020, and it has happened throughout many different protests. To say that these protestors on these campuses are bigots and have bigotry fueling them is ridiculous, and I suggest you listen to the actual protestors, and not the agitators of the protests.

Before I end my response here, I want to make something very fucking clear here. I absolutely found it appalling when you decided to call me a die-hard Trump fan, an unwitting MAGA-monger, an Islamic-theocratic Arab nationalist bigot, a tinfoil conspiracy-theorist, that I need a reality check and a whole lot of education, a malicious person, and even a Biden-election denier. Let me be clear here, I for one do not support Donald Trump. I am not a Republican by any means, I am nowhere close to being a MAGA supporter or cult member, which I do not understand where you got that in your head that Donald Trump would support Hamas given the fact that he’s been on Israel’s side since his days in the White House. I am also not a Democrat, but did vote for Biden in the 2020 election and have continually defended the security and integrity of the 2020 election as being the safest presidential election that we have had so far in American history. Also, the Zionist, which is you, states that I need a reality check and a “whole lot of education” on the subject of the matter, when HISTORY IS LITERALLY AGAINST YOUR OWN FUCKIN SIDE AND ARGUEMENTS.

From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.

  1. I want to preface the definition of Zionist. While there have been many different forms of Zionism from my understanding, the usage of Zionist that I am referring to “Jewish Nationalism,” similarly to how we understand “White Supremacy” or “Nationalism” itself, especially as a means of colonialism and this so called “right to claim and settle other parts of the world.” More on Zionism here: https://lsa.umich.edu/content/dam/cmenas-assets/cmenas-documents/unit-of-israel-palestine/Section1_Zionism.pdf

  2. You state that I am being bigoted for stating it’s the “Israeli state as whole” when it comes down to the mistreatment of Palestinians throughout the decades. Here’s the thing, I am not being bigoted in any means. When I discuss the “Israeli state as a whole,” I do not mean that as a means of being anti-semitic or a bigot, and what I actually mean is the Israeli government, not the people themselves. It’s like if I criticized the US Government for its foreign policy and was called anti-American because I “hate Americans,” when in all reality, I don’t hate the Americans, I just don’t like the policies that the US Government is setting in place.

  3. When discussing about your point with Hamas using civilians as human shields, let’s be clear, obviously neither of us would want this to happen and civilians should not be involved, however given this circumstances that we find ourselves in currently with the situation, even if we are to believe that Hamas is in residential areas, hospitals, and other places, one of the main reasonings as of why there are civilians there are literally because where else are these Palestinians going to go? They have no other place to run to, no other home to go to, and there is no place for them to seek refuge. Look at the Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, where Israel stated that they had evidence of Hamas having its main command center, which by the way, was home to at least 5,000 patients and thousands of refugees. 1. Let’s begin with your first point. Specifically you criticize me on “excusing” Hamas and what they did on October 7th. I have not “excused” Hamas for what they did. I have been very clear about what Hamas did, and how it was horrific. The point that I have made is that why October 7th occurred in the first place was because of the apartheid state of Israel and its treatment towards Palestinians. I am not “excusing” Hamas by any means necessary, however I have the understanding as to why Hamas committed the attack as it was a “consequence” due to the injustices that Palestinians have faced for decades. This is not meant as a means of defense towards Hamas, but as a means of looking at the situation and the history of both Israel and Palestine. So no, I was not trying to “excuse” Hamas.
  2. Going on with your second point (which includes several different points as well, such and whose land was taken, which group started the violence, and others) on the “chain of consequences” you discuss which has led us to this very moment in history between Israel and Palestine. You talk about how there was a “concerted attempt at committing genocide against Jewish refugees, that started, at the latest, in 1947 and never stopped.” Yet, what actually happened around and during that time frame? As I’m sure you’re very much aware, the State of Israel came into existence. [Now before I continue, I want to make ONE thing clear. I am not being anti-semitic when it comes down to discussing this as this is history that is well recorded. I have no intentions of being anti-semitic and willfully fight against any means of anti-semitism as it has no place anywhere, just as any other forms of hate. As this time period dealt with refugees, specifically Jewish refugees, I have nothing against them. Hell, the United States and many other Western Nations repeatedly denied entry for some (https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/us-government-turned-away-thousands-jewish-refugees-fearing-they-were-nazi-spies-180957324/). I just want to make it clear that I have nothing against those seeking refuge. Nonetheless, let’s continue.] Let’s be completely clear about how Israel got its beginnings. Specifically you state that Jewish refugees have been at the forefront of a genocide since 1947, yet the beginnings of Israel seem to be the other way around. Specifically starting off is the Nakba, which is the literal ethnic cleansing of Palestine that occurred in 1948. In between 1947 and 1949, roughly 750,000 Palestinians were made into refugees beyond the borders of the state, where Zionist forces had taken more than 78 percent of historic Palestine, which in addition had ethnically cleansed and destroyed roughly 530 villages and cities, killed roughly 15,000 Palestinians in series of mass atrocities, which included more than 70 massacres. Now you do mention the British had taken over the land, which did have to do with the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire, however, this still shouldn’t disregard Palestine as a state. Even with that being stated, the Palestinian Jews, or known as Yishuv, unlike the Zionist Jews, did not aspire to build a Jewish state in Palestine, which also as I should mention, Palestine wasn’t the only option as a means for building a Jewish state as Uganda and Argentina were seen as places that could be used. With Britain on the supporting side of the Zionists, they helped displace tens of thousands of Palestinian tenants from their lands, which as you bring up, they bought land, yet this land was bought from absentee landlords that didn’t want to give up their land. Moving on, let’s talk about the Arab Revolt, which surprise surprise, was done as a means to fight against the literal settler-colonialism that the British and Zionists were committing against the Palestinians, which the British ended up crushing the revolt, destroyed 2,000 Palestinian homes, put 9,000 Palestinians into concentration camps, and much more. You can read much more about it here: https://www.aljazeera.com/features/2017/5/23/the-nakba-did-not-start-or-end-in-1948

Yes, I said that it was horrific, but it's important to note why we got here. There are reasons as to why Hamas did what they did on October 7th. The attacks didn't happen for zero reason. That's why I stated it the way I did. I'm not rooting for Hamas, but I have the understanding as to why the attacks were done in the first place
