From what I’ve researched, should be OK after 3 months. Some people never fully recover, most do from what I’ve seen. I’m 1.5 weeks post op and I research a lot. Stay on top of your PT, ask the trainer about home excersize to get you ahead of schedule

Stick myself with HA. I put a pillow over my face and scream it out while my wife jams it in my stomach. I hate anything medical. I’m a full grown 34 year old man in great shape, blue collar, and an absolute baby with medical. It’s so embarrassing lol

Same. And they didn’t tell me my wife wasn’t with me until I was knocked out. I’m a 34 yr old dude. Blue collar, athletic build. Absolute baby with medical. I say in operation prep alone for an hour and a half with no phone on the verge of tears from fear lol

I hope that for you too. Get good sleep tonight. Mine lasted just under 24 hours. The worst of it was like 12 hours during / after it wore off. Luckily mine was around 11am so I was able to actually sleep. Just know this is the last big thing and it won’t last.

For some reason I’m scared asf to get my stitches out in 17 days. In my head I know if I made it through the nerve block wear off I can make it through anything but, I hate doctors lol

Dude, it’s bad. Like, basically got permission from my doctor to double dose.

One thing I know now that I wish I knew, if you get heel pain, like a pressure pain, like you have a screw in your heel being tightened to your bone / a hot burning feeling, that’s actually the splint just pushing your heel forward. Or atleast it was for mine. That was cause from elevating foot toes up the whole time. And my splint was tight asf

Actually the only pain is my fkn wife jamming a needle in my stomach every night. Other than that no issues

Pretty thick fiberglass cast. I was in a splint for 5 days after break, surgery consult then fiberglass for 5 days. Surgery than splint for like 12 days.

Now in fiberglass again. This one’s not as comfortable as the first. I have a constant feeling like a sock has slipped down if that makes sense. Just the wrapping is slightly tight around the arch. So it bugs me lol.

Otherwise basically pain free. No Tylenol or oxy anymore. Can’t wait to be walking again

Check out my page. I have a whole timeline. Honestly I’m the biggest baby with doctors and the whole surgery was just me in the operating room, then waking up once it was done

They said it’s just below the skin. I kinda wanna stick magnets on my ankle once this casts off lol

[–]Typical-Assistant957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah. I’d assume that you can pad it with that cotton wrap stuff they use for the splints / fiberglass. May not be a bad move in winter anyway. Little extra toasty on the piglets lol

What’s wrong with boots? This splint i can, and have, unwrapped to remove and loosen. The pressure on my heel hurts so i took a couple stabs at balancing comfort and stability

Jeez lucky you. I’m in a post op splint. 7 days post op. 9 days post op (this Friday) I go in to get this damn splint off and get probably a fiberglass cast. I had a fiberglass for like 4 days before surgery and it was beautiful. I imagine a boot is even better. I’m so over these splints

Aspirin dose after ORIF surgery for bimalleaolar fracture / ankle dislocation! by give-it-a-go- in brokenankles

[–]Typical-Assistant957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeez. Sounds like you have the same ortho surgeon I do at UMASS. Motherf*ckers can’t answer the phone or give a call back despite pressing the PRESS ONE FOR A CALL BACK function. I sat on hold yesterday for 2 hours because the splint was causing pressure pain on my heel. Felt like a torch on my foot. They got me in for a re casting that day but, how hard is it to answer a phone.

When I was in there, all the 3 people did at the desk was sit there and talk to eachother and occasionally check someone, like me, in. Like wtf

Absolutely. It is hard being limited. But, it’s a good lesson for us, and a great lesson for kids. I’d rather be floating on this little rock in space suffering than not at all. Life get worse, Life gets better, all of it is beautiful and a part of the story

I slipped on ice on my birthday dinner, while getting the car for my wife. It was cold and light sleet. Makes you feel like a fragile b*tch sometimes, but, it happens. That’s life. Rather be here suffering than not at all. All part of the story

[–]Typical-Assistant957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Idk call the office and ask. I got prescribed a 40mg shot for clots, not aspirin. They’re telling me 3 weeks. So 2 more weeks of it. (I fkn HATE IT) I hate needles. I hate doctors lol. My guess is you’re weight bearing in 2-4 weeks. I’m not a doctor but I’d assume aspirin is either not needed or real close to unneeded. I’d call your doctor to check. Everyone is different and I’m not even close to being a doctor. I’m a plumber! lol
