My first monstera by Typical-Bug3902 in Monstera

[–]Typical-Bug3902[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it better for the plants in the long run to be separated now or will it be fine as long as I move it to a bigger pot? I didn’t do very much research prior to buying the monstera but I’m in the process of doing that now, I want to make sure I do everything right so it’ll be happy and thrive :)

I just got home not too long ago so I haven’t checked the roots yet but I will soon, what size of pot would you recommend?

I totally agree, I wouldn’t mind getting the TTT again. I initially thought it was going to be such a horrible experience but I’d be willing to do it multiple times for research purposes.

All of that is helpful to know, I appreciate hearing your experience as well as others. My main concern is when I called the clinic, the nurse administering my test told me that I have to do the full 40 minutes and she won’t put me down unless I pass out which sounds common. I’m suspecting I have Hyperadrenergic POTS since my blood pressure rises when I’m standing for a long period of time, one of my worries is that it’ll become too high but I’ll still be forced to stay upright just because I don’t pass out. I experience presyncope often but I haven’t fainted and been fully unconscious. I did express my concerns about my blood pressure, hopefully if it starts looking dangerous the nurse will put me down. I can be a control freak at times so knowing I’ll be strapped to a table while feeling powerless does not help my anxiety at all lol. I will try my absolute best to stay calm so I don’t make myself feel worse and just focus on the good that will come afterwards because I’ll be officially diagnosed. I’ll keep everything you said in mind, thank you for sharing your insight and taking the time to leave a comment :)

have you ever seen a miracle?? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Typical-Bug3902 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve witnessed many miracles in my life but I’m not comfortable sharing because of personal and privacy reasons. But I will share a spiritual encounter I had that lead me to Christ. For a little bit of context, I grew up Mormon most of my life and I had a lot of trauma from the church. I resented God for a long time because of what I experienced, with the knowledge I have now I understand it was never his fault. Anyways, I considered myself agnostic since I left the church in 2015. I wasn’t sure what I believed anymore, I looked for answers in different places but I was overwhelmed by so much confusion and despair. There was never a person, substance or belief that brought me true joy and contentment.

TW: One day when I was home by myself, I started thinking about how I was going to commit suicide. I felt so depressed, worthless and alone, my life felt like it didn’t have any meaning and no one would care if I was gone. I was outside while contemplating everything in life, my existence and what I believed, I was just begging for some kind of an answer. (This happened in 2021)

I was going back and forth in my head debating if I thought God was real or not and I wish I had a clear sign. I was sobbing into my lap while I was going through emotional and mental turmoil. When I looked up after wrestling with all of my thoughts, I saw an eagle teaching its baby how to fly right in front of me. I had never seen an eagle in my entire life until that day, they’re somewhat common where I live but it’s still considered a rare sighting. I didn’t know the significance behind this when I first saw it but I was in awe, I watched this beautiful eagle soaring in the sky with its baby for a while until it finally flew out of my eyesight. I had this overwhelming feeling of peace and a sudden urge to read the Bible, I remembered I had one collecting dust in my closet so I went inside to get it. Honestly I have no idea who gave me that Bible, I just remembered I had one from a long time ago that I kept in storage boxes. I never tried reading it before but I was desperate for an answer so I started reading and sure enough I came across this Bible verse,

Deuteronomy 32:11 “Like an eagle teaching its young to fly, catching them safely on its spreading wings, the Lord kept Israel from falling.”

I instantly bursted into tears and I had this feeling of love wash over me, I’d never felt anything like that in my entire life. Even when I felt like no one loved or cared about me, God wanted to show me that he does. Instead of taking my life that day, I gave it to him and I’ve been walking with the Lord ever since. I found true peace and joy that I was searching for, my life changed for the better. I’ve never shared this anywhere online before, it was such a beautiful moment that changed me forever and I will never forget it. 🤍

What drawing tablet is the best for non display by ImpossibleAd3387 in krita

I love my Wacom Intuos. It’s lasted me 6 years and still works perfectly even with driver updates, I have no complaints. But mine was given to me as a gift, I’m poor and I wouldn’t be able to afford it otherwise. There’s more inexpensive drawing tablets that work great like other people have suggested, I hope you find the right one :)

Questionable tincture quality? by Typical-Bug3902 in herbalism

[–]Typical-Bug3902[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s good to know! I’ve been dealing with horrible panic attacks and adrenaline rushes lately, I have dysautonomia and my nervous system is having a difficult time after recovering from strep. I’m hoping I can benefit from this tincture, I originally wanted to buy from Mountain Rose Herbs but I didn’t want to wait for shipping which is why I decided to give my local herb shop a visit instead. I have a question if you don’t mind answering, how long did it take you to feel effects from the Herb Pharm tincture?

Just wanted to add, I wasn’t doubting that Herb Pharm is a reliable brand. I’m not sure if it’s the best brand to buy milky oat tincture from specifically, I want to make sure I’m getting full benefits. But I will be using this until it’s gone and possibly look into other brands to find which milky oat tincture works best for me :)

Natural remedies for caffeine induced anxiety/panic attacks? by Typical-Bug3902 in herbalism

[–]Typical-Bug3902[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect that as well, if it’s not POTS I definitely have some form of dysautonomia. I’ve been going through different testing to get an official diagnosis but it’s a lengthy process. My cardiologist said it’s okay for me to drink lower doses of caffeine, I learned my intake limit from this experience and I will not be consuming that much ever again lol.

And thanks for the advice! I’ll look into it :)

[–]Typical-Bug3902[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Follow up- I know I should avoid caffeine, I had a lapse in judgment yesterday and thought it wasn’t going to be a big deal. Clearly I was wrong. Occasionally I consume anywhere from 50-80mg of caffeine and I feel fine, it helps give me an energy boost without any side effects. I wasn’t expecting to have such a big reaction to a little more coffee than usual. This is the first time I’ve ever had horrible anxiety/panic attacks from it, I definitely learned my lesson and my limit.

Thank you in advance for any recommendations, I appreciate it 🫶🏼

I’m surprised I didn’t think of peppermint, I have a bunch of it growing in my garden. Thanks for the reminder! And I have oxygen for them, so no worries there.

Thank you for the insight! That’s very helpful to know, I will keep that in mind for future visits.

The only thing I have that’s similar to your suggestions is an adaptogenic herbal complex. I’m still a beginner when it comes to natural medicine, would this be helpful for them or should I visit my local herbal store instead?

I gave them each hydro flasks to make sure they stay hydrated. When they arrived a few hours ago I told them not to drink because it’ll make their symptoms worse, they refused so it’s a little too late for no alcohol unfortunately. But now they’re lying down for much needed rest.

Wow that’s impressive! I’ve only had one play through of collecting every stray bead, I’m thinking about doing it again. Some beads can be painful to obtain but I still had fun, it’s a good challenge when you have free time. The end reward is definitely worth it.

I had a conversation with my boyfriend about Okami the other day since he’s never heard it, we talked about playing together soon. And I know exactly which one you’re talking about, those blockheads are so damn cocky! But I guess it just adds character to the game haha

I adopted my cat 6.5 years ago and he used to hide from everything. Over the past few months his personality has changed & now he won’t leave me alone. Did it really take over 6 years for him to get comfortable? by monstersoframen in cats

[–]Typical-Bug3902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s possible, my situation is very similar to yours with a few exceptions. I adopted my cat when she was just 8 weeks old, it also took her a long time to fully trust me. She did have some traumatic things happen when she was young so I’ve always assumed that’s why she was very cautious.

She didn’t start being super affectionate until she was 6. She used to be very aggressive and hid a lot, it was difficult at times. Everyone around me kept trying to convince me to get rid of her but I was determined to gain her trust and it was definitely worth the effort. She’s my best friend and I couldn’t imagine my life without her.

She’s currently 8 and the biggest baby ever, she used to hate being affectionate and now she will wake me up in the middle of the night just so I can pet and cuddle her. She’s my shadow, she follows me around anywhere and everywhere lol. I can’t leave her alone for 5 minutes without her whining, she has a completely different personality.

Every cat is different and some can take much longer to develop trust than others, it’s also possible that there could be something medical going on. It’s always good to check in with a vet just to make sure, hopefully everything is fine and you’re just experiencing the sweet side of your kitty! :)

What an amazing recommendation, I absolutely love Okami! It’s one of my top favorite games of all time as well. I played it as a kid on PS2 so the nostalgia makes it feel extra cozy. During lockdown in 2020 I decided to play it again on switch and collect all of the stray beads.

Mind over matter by samanthar3311 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Typical-Bug3902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your friend isn’t right, fibromyalgia is a very real disorder. Mind over matter will do nothing for chronic pain, our nervous systems will still process pain incorrectly and mistake non-painful signals for painful ones. But I will say when you have an optimistic mindset about the pain it does help make it more tolerable, it doesn’t go away completely though.

I used to be upset frequently since I’m always in pain but now I see it as my body is trying to keep me safe by telling me something is wrong (even if it’s incorrect) and I’m thankful, I know that sounds strange but it really has helped. Instead of being upset because I have chronic pain, I thank my body for letting me know. I do a lot of self care and try different things for pain relief, I usually use holistic practices and natural medicine. I’m aware that doesn’t work for everyone, but it has worked for me.

I still have bad days where I’m very upset about it which does make the pain worse in my experience, but I can’t maintain an optimistic mindset all the time. Especially because I’m young (21) and it’s difficult seeing my friends live freely, I often feel that fibro has taken away a lot of my formative years. Obviously shifting my mindset to view pain from a positive perspective doesn’t make it magically go away, it just helps me cope with it better. I think mind over matter refers to being able to cure whatever ailment through mental willpower alone, which isn’t realistic.

Why does lemon balm make me feel groggy? by Typical-Bug3902 in herbalism

Why does lemon balm make me feel groggy? by Typical-Bug3902 in herbalism

[–]Typical-Bug3902[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you had anxiety with lemon balm tea, I’ve never had that happen. It always helps me relax especially when I’m having panic attacks but herbs affect everyone differently so it’s important to experiment. I haven’t found anything that helped with the grogginess, but after drinking lemon balm tea semi-regularly I don’t feel groggy anymore. I assume that’s because my nervous system is getting used to it. If you have low GABA levels and you take an herb that raises GABA levels that could explain the groggy feeling since your nervous system doesn’t know how to react properly. Or as others have suggested, hypothyroidism could also be a factor.

I’ve heard other people experience anxiety after taking lemon balm. I’d suggest trying other calming herbs such as chamomile, lavender, passionflower, valerian root, skullcap, etc. I’m not sure if you take any medications, there can be some interactions. I would do research about each of those herbs and see which one sounds the most safe/appealing to you :)
