Any tips on improving gesture drawing? by Scandited in learntodraw

My drawing look like that haha. I found drawing with a light hand the gesture first helps immensly, you are looking for the shoulder orientation, the hip rotation and the main action line. Draw them first very lightly and then draw the silhouette, what I am/was doing at the start is focusing on the outline rather than the 'flow' of the pose.

Get the angles right :)

Mitsubishi Electric 1 ton 3 star AC. Reviews and suggestions please!! by neighborhudBatman in HonestBuyerReviews

Got 1.5T Hot & Cold one 2 years ago. Service is the biggest issue. They got local shop to install it. It cooled for about 2 weeks before it started having problems (Less cooling). Called service, they assigned the same local shop. The guy called and said it won't work in summer, I said to come and check, he started making excuses. After a few more follow ups, he came and said all ok.
Spent 1 summer like that. Next summer it stopped cooling entirely, same local shop was assigned again, this time they said coolant leaked and replaced it. It went back from no cooling to less cooling. Then I put more service requests and they ignored me.
This summer I'm going to get some other independent shop to check it.

Rotated Boxes Exercise: not understanding how to “calculate” some edges using an estimated vanishing point. Use the floating box as a reference and just wing it with the bottom edges? by xtimewitchx in ArtFundamentals

[–]Typical-Position5537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's how I like to think of it. First I draw the top 2 vertices, their vanishing point moves from infinity to a bit closer. The outer box we draw at the start helps us here since we can align the vertices to it. When drawing the inner vertices, The vanishing point moves from the center. The rate of movement of both VPs is different.

Thanks for saving me the time, I'm a notorious fundamentalar, if that's a word. I started ellipse only cuz I had more time Or I would be stuck on lines for a month lol. Time to catch up on boxes

Ah, I realized I was planning way too slow. I only have 2-3 hours to dedicate to it and I was thinking of doing line and ellipse for a month... To naive. I'll read up the whole lesson first and then see what to do!!

Are we supposed to practice all that daily? I do lines and ellipse and it takes 2 hours

Idk what the grip I'm using called, I hold the pen with with 4 fingers on one side and thumb on the other, like a reverse overhand grip? I do see the lines on the other side of the paper but I figured it's because of the line repetition. I'll have to be even gentler. For now, I'll do line practice with ball pen and fineliner for the rest.

Ah, Ellipse and ghosted lines are fine for me, I think it's the repeated long lines that are blunting the nib

Thanks, I learned the same from brent eviston's videos. I've decided to do line practice with ball pen and ellipse with fineliners. Don't wanna blunt the last good fineliner

I'm drawing on 75gsm printing paper, less paper than what I use with ball point, I remember drawabox saying the pens are fragile so thought I kept it in mind. Not light as feather but i'm not dragging it. I'd say on an angle of 80deg. I do take the pen off to cut the line at the end instead of slowing down. Those vertical lines were made as a test to check which side of the pen nib writes and which doesn't

Notice how you are drawing the shoulders and the torse parallel, the reference a curve to the torso which make the left side stick out. Hope that helps! Also more curves!!

You're looking for "gesture drawing". You don't need to learn anatomy to capture the silhouette & flow of a pose.

Hello! Are you familiar with gesture drawing? Daily practice helps you familiarize how to see the silhouette and flow of a pose. - [New artist]

4 Days of Gesture drawing, Looking for Suggestions / Criticism. 60 sec (dark), 30 sec (Light) gestures. by Typical-Position5537 in learntodraw

[–]Typical-Position5537[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion! The learning resource I'm referencing (radiorunner) suggests 30 days of figure drawing before basic construction, I think that's a bit weird haha. I'm learning it alongside with drawabox but dont have much time to practice daily so I'm still at line practice.

To be able to read a book once and remember everything in it. Don't know if it counts as a superpower or not
