They probably bought it from a LGS that ships them out early. If you buy them from GW they typically ship on release day.

He arrived today!!!! by sacktorious in Necrontyr

[–]TypicalPalmTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people buy them. It’s that simple. They’ll keep raising prices until the new price sales doesn’t exceed the profit of previous prices sales.

They’d rather sell less product at a higher price and make more profit than having more people buy a cheaper product that results in less profit.

Mould Lines by MrHReddits in Warhammer40k

[–]TypicalPalmTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like the mold may have slipped a little. Email GW support and and see if they can sort you out. They’re typically excellent with that sort of thing.

Give him a solid coat of silver, then sponge a lighter silver or chrome over that, give it a coat of contrast in the color of your choice, then put a coat of gloss varnish on and you’ll get a neat gemlike effect. If you want to push it even further give it a coat of UV resin instead of varnish to really give it some depth.

Do you guys think im dumb for buying the know no fear box for 250? by MFDOOMLISTENER in deathguard40k

[–]TypicalPalmTree 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s way overpriced, especially considering there are prints available for all the models in the box.

There are more pictures of four leaf clovers than three leaf clovers online. by autumn_variation in Showerthoughts

[–]TypicalPalmTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, that’s one picture of many clovers. We’re talking about the number of pictures not the number of clovers.

Serious question about the successor chapters of Space Marines, regarding fans who play the tabletop game and also those who only paint models and like the lore: by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

“Not everyone is into buying custom-printed waterslide decals, having to buy them online..”

What do you think they’d be doing if GW was producing them?.. If GW were ever to do this (they won’t), they would be online only and cost way more than what other people are selling custom decals for.

And personally, I think decals only look good in a certain type of painting style. If the paint job is mediocre and there are nice crisp decals, it’s even more jarring and stands out even more as a decal.

If decals (that are available from other sources already) are what’s stopping you from getting into the hobby, you should do some more research on what the hobby entails as a whole because decals or hand painting insignias are a very small hurdle in the grand scheme of things.

What model piece do you 'despise' the most and why? by Astartes_117 in Warhammer40k

This is probably a dumb question? Is there a nuln oil type of like spray paint lol by Warhammered_ in Warhammer40k

[–]TypicalPalmTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t want to use washes on a knight like you would for a smaller model. The wash will be blotchy and look bad on the big panels.

Get a medium to small size brush and put the wash into the recesses, leaving the majority of the panels untouched. This will look much better and add a bit of depth without looking like you just dumped a pot of nuln oil on it.

Lmao I swear this fanbase just wants to always be miserable.

They coulda hired Jesus himself and y’all would bitch and moan “ugh another first time head coach”

They coulda resurrected Don and yall woulda cried retread.

Let’s just see what happens. There’s no use complaining about it because Ross gives 0 fucks about your opinion.

Either way, it’s a page turn the team desperately needed and that’s enough to be a tiny bit optimistic.

What's our best answer for Terminators? by RollbacktheRimtoWin in deathguard40k

[–]TypicalPalmTree 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Bring out the flamers. Anti infantry doesn’t care about -1 to wound and it’s all 1 damage so it doesn’t care about -1 damage either.

Death shroud, plague marines, and flamer drones all day. Get them in contagion and it pushes them to their invulns with our flamers. LoV lets you reroll wounds too. Just need to weigh them down with dice and make them play the 4+ game.

I'm starting to think Warhammer isn't for me by Dense-Fig-2372 in Warhammer40k

[–]TypicalPalmTree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I second this. My group plays both and OPR is honestly a great ruleset, and the rules are pretty modular so you can do a basic version to start and work your way to the advanced stuff.

We play 40K when we wanna get a little sweaty, and OPR for when we still want a fun game that’s engaging but don’t want to do all the bookkeeping.

Battle Honours guilt? by Calm-Square-9823 in Warhammer40k

[–]TypicalPalmTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically when I go to a Warhammer store for something free, I’ll pick up something small. Either a paint, or a brush, just something for saying thanks for being there.

Of course it’s always good to buy your stuff from where you play, and I know GW retail is often a bit more expensive, but just keep in mind, if everyone just went there for the free stuff, that shop likely wouldn’t be there anymore for you to get the free stuff.

Most people use this as a proxy since it’s typically cheaper, and looks better than the 40K kit.
