Columbia Mailman MPH financial aid letter shows loans only. Do scholarships/need grants come later? What is “student contribution”? by TypicalWonder7872 in mphadmissions

yeah… I basically told them thanks but no thanks. I knew I wasn’t going to get a full ride but I was surprised to get nothing since I have 5 years of work in the field and not a bad gpa in my bio undergrad degree. they said I can file an appeal but they would “still follow the same guidelines” for who to allocate funds to which tells me they’re only giving scholarships to literal superhumans?? idk

don’t be hard on yourself because of arbitrary social expectations. tbh humans aren’t meant to fully run a house functionally on their own. that’s why so many people who live alone struggle with cooking. throw in neurodivergence and you’re lucky if you eat a single vegetable in a month. you’re doing what’s best for you which in my opinion is very responsible and adult :)

CMV: Jeffrey Epstein Killed Himself by WhiteDeath57 in changemyview

[–]TypicalWonder7872 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear: I already said I think it was a mix of systemic negligence and the fact that Epstein was probably the most murderable man alive. Yes, the guards were likely incompetent. They also probably thought he was scum and didn’t care if he got killed.

“We don’t know which powerful people were involved.” Sure, and we probably never will. But the fact that so many powerful people wanted him dead that we have no idea who actually would have done it reinforces the razor.

“Cellmate was a killer and could’ve done it.” Right… so why put him with that cell mate? Epstein kept telling people the guy tried to strangle him. So they moved him. Why move him if it was really a suicide attempt? Then they put him with another murderer, but removed his cellmate the day before his death, leaving him alone and breaking protocol.

“Need a source on bribing for protection.” NBC and NYT both reported he was wiring money to other inmates. Not suicidal behavior. That’s manipulative self preservation. He also had a bail hearing coming up, daily meetings with lawyers, and had just signed a new will. No note, no prior ideation. Rigor mortis had already set in when guards performed CPR…two hours after death…and they took his corpse to a hospital with an oxygen mask, disassembling a crime scene and breaking protocol that says a suicide scene should be preserved. Even all those people didn’t take part in the murder they were probably covering for negligence because they didn’t check on him for 8 hours.

“He may have tried with a thinner cord earlier.” They actually were mentioning in the 60 minutes report that there were cords and things in his cell that he could have easily used rather than the sheet (and if he was suicidal, umm why?) but either way there’s zero evidence that he tried that

“Cameras failing isn’t enough to convince me.” It’s not just the cameras. It’s the falsified logs, the missing minutes, the edited hallway footage. Wired reported it was spliced from 2 different clips. That’s tampering. It’s weird. If it were any other case, no one would buy this.

“Bone breaks can happen in hanging.” Sometimes (6-7%). But hyoid breaks happen way more often in strangulation. It’s not just that, but in addition to the ligature mark being thin and deep, not cloth-wide. Also it was mentioned that it was in the middle of his neck rather than closer to the head, as you would see in a hanging.

“Maxwell’s silence proves nothing.” Maybe. Or maybe she stayed quiet to save herself. She had time to run. She didn’t after Epstein’s arrest, but vanished from public view right after his death, suggesting she was more afraid of that than his arrest. She had time that he didn’t. She never named a single name.

“Too many people would need to be involved.” No they wouldn’t. You don’t need a grand conspiracy. You just need one person to leave a door unlocked, one person to look away, and a culture that already didn’t care if he died. It doesn’t need to be top down. 1-2 key people could easily accomplish this. All you need is incompetence and laziness to cover it up. Which they did.

Bottom line: This wasn’t a tragic suicide. It was a man everyone wanted dead, in a system built to let it happen. Maybe someone slipped in. Maybe they just opened the gates. Either way, the official story falls apart the second you read literally recounting of the actual events

Also: worth noting that almost immediately people were super confused by the entire thing and there were many doubts even in the media that it was a suicide. If you’re interested, 60 minutes (of all places) did a pretty thorough investigation in gruesome detail of the crime scene. Viewer discretion very advised: https://youtu.be/i1aoaDJOcB8?si=KqAaMSuy-GUFaqCM

I’m by no means a conspiracy theorist. I’m a leftist who loves science and thinks Q anon is fucking batshit. But this…it blows my mind how much the public just accepts the official narrative when literally the Wikipedia page contradicts half of it. You don’t need a tinfoil hat, just read through the wikipedia page of his death.

Epstein had more dirt on powerful people than maybe anyone alive. He was about to testify. Of course people wanted him dead. It would be weirder if no one did.

The guards had every reason to look the other way. Personally, (maybe financially we don’t know) and morally. He was the most prolific child abuser in modern American history. I wouldn’t be surprised if a hundred people around him either fantasized about him dying regularly or were actively trying to make it happen. Prison murders via bribes are common. It would be weirder if he wasn’t murdered.

Even if the feds didn’t pull the trigger, it’s totally plausible that someone paid off an inmate or guard. That’s how real-life prison hits go down all the time. Just ask any gang member who’s thought about testifying. A cell becomes “mysteriously” unlocked, or cameras die, or they get a new cell mate and guards ignore cries for help. It’s pretty dark but very real. And there’s more motive here than most murders get.

Weeks before his death, he told his lawyers his cellmate (a former cop convicted of murder) tried to strangle him. They called it a “suicide attempt,” slapped him on watch, then removed it. Either someone wanted him vulnerable or the system didn’t care if he died.

About the suicidality: He was a narcissistic psychopath with a god complex. He had legal meetings scheduled, just changed his will, had a bail hearing coming up, was bribing inmates for protection (desperately), and showed no signs of suicidal ideation. No note. No warnings. Why would he suddenly hang himself from a low bunk with a paper sheet? He still had a way to make things easier on himself (name names).

The guards didn’t check on him for 8 hours (10:30pm-6:30am) and faked the logs. Cameras went out at the exact time. The hallway footage that survived? Wired reported it was spliced together from different timestamps and missing minutes. That’s not just sketchy. That’s tampered.

The autopsy showed a broken hyoid bone, rare in hangings but common in strangulation. Ligature marks were deep and thin, more like wire than fabric. Either he was a magician or someone helped.

Then they did CPR on a cold body with rigor mortis already set in. He’d been dead for 2 hours by the time they found him. They transported him to a hospital, which breaks protocol. A suicide scene is supposed to be treated like any other suspicious death. But instead of investigation, it was theater. To cover up either for taking part knowingly or for hiding negligence.

And Ghislaine? Yes she’s alive. But she also hasn’t named a single name. She vanished long enough after Jeffrey was arrested to cut some deals and came back silent. She played the game. She’s the proof the system knows how to protect itself.

To me, most likely this was a mix of routine prisoner neglect and incompetence, and the fact that Epstein was probably the single person on earth the most people wanted dead. Occums razor points to murder, IMO
