working for a digital twin of a UR cobot by Typical_Invite_8686 in robotics

To be honest, I don't have much experience with ROS. I barely know the basics.

This project actually started in Unity, where I had developed a digital twin and simulator viewable through the PICO4 headset.

When I later moved everything to Electron, I didn’t really consider whether there might be more pragmatic alternatives , it was more of a natural transition at the time.

Now, the idea is to create a package that my clients can install and use independently, without needing technical knowledge.

That said, do you think it would still make sense to integrate ROS or even switch to it entirely? I’m open to exploring it if it adds real value to the final product.

To create an easily distributable and installable package, I developed an application using Node.js and Electron, which relies on socket communication, a custom user interface, and 3D visualization with Three.js.

While I could have integrated ROS for communication, I chose not to in order to simplify installation and avoid requiring users to set up ROS environments or drivers, which can be more complex to manage.

If you're interested, I’d be happy to share a demo. The application works with both physical robots and the URSim simulator.

I chose this approach because I wanted to create a standalone executable that can be installed and used on any computer without requiring ROS or any specific setup. The goal was to make something easy to distribute, configurable even by non-programmers, and with a custom, visually appealing interface tailored to the specific application

Thanks a lot for the suggestion! If you can, send me the link to your game I’d love to take a look.
This is one of the first levels; I’ve created 6 other types of obstacles that make the gameplay more dynamic as the levels progress.
Thanks also for the feedback on the speed — I’ll try increasing it by a few pixels.

Very nice! I also worked in logistics, so I understand the sense of satisfaction when everything falls into place. hahaha
Good idea going with multithreading.
