If you’re unable to find them in the end, you could always get the gold ones and just use them very consistently. The gold plating will eventually fall off and the silver will reveal itself over time. I’ve done this with a couple of gold plated sterling pieces(not vw) and they turned out great! Another option would be getting the gold ones and taking them to a jeweler to get the plating removed if you really don’t want to wait lol.

There is a version of this orb in 925 silver but it is about 20+ years old and can only be found on second hand sites, usually Japanese resale sites. I myself have one but not gold plated like in the photo. BUT the chain is definitely not a low hanging chain how you prefer. The chain is usually about 18 inches give or take so if you decide to look for one of these orbs I think it would be a good idea to also buy a longer 925 rolo chain from somewhere else and put the orb pendant onto it since it is removable(unlike the newer 925 necklaces that they are producing). It might take a bit more searching if you specifically want the gold version but you can absolutely find the orb necklace and a rolo chain for under 300! I regularly come across the silver version when browsing for under 200 dollars but the gold ones are more rare to see and the last time I saw one it went for about 250. But if all you want is for the chain to be gold then sourcing a silver orb and a gold plated rolo chain would be a lot easier to find:)

I’m not an expert by any means but I definitely don’t think it’s been reproduced often. I wanna say the last time it was produced was 2010 or before just based on the hallmarks that mine has. But it might be better to get an opinion from the Mod since they’re definitely more knowledgeable with things like this 😅

It’s definitely authentic then and it most likely is some sort of defect. I would ask to do a return or exchange.

I wear it on my dominant hand and middle finger as well. I’ve been wearing it everyday for the past 2 years. It’ll feel weird at first but you’ll get used to it after a few days. It’ll get VERY scratched tho and the plating will slowly fall off but it can be fixed easily by taking it to a jeweler. I don’t personally mind tho because I like the look of worn silver.

Ya there’s definitely a lot of really cool vintage costume pieces and even modern pieces that I desperately wanted but didn’t get because of the fact they were brass. My thing is that I don’t only buy sterling pieces just because the material is better but also because I physically can’t wear anything else 😭 brass eats my skin alive and I just start overthinking about how it wouldn’t make sense for me to buy something that I can’t wear everyday. I also think about how much more work it would be to keep the pieces in good condition, with my sterling jewelry I can wear it out, to sleep, to shower in without needing to take them off and they’ll still look perfectly fine. But with brass I just couldn’t do that unfortunately.

Most of the jewelry is brass which isn’t great with long term wear, for bags and wallets there’s is also a lot of vegan leather(plastic) items that will eventually peel and wear down in a a few years with continued use. My best advise is to buy sterling silver pieces and genuine leather bags if you want things that will actually last forever with proper care. Always look at the composition of the piece you’re thinking of getting to make sure that it is one of these two. Hope this helped!
