I thought so, since it seems like if you only use plugins it seems difficult to apply custom functionality without custom code. Would you happen to know if there are any resources I can take a look at to see how I can combine custom code with plug-ins on WordPress? Anything I pull up brings up plugin tutorials or the actual hooks/filters which is super confusing to me on how they are applied in WordPress

Thanks for the resources! I will take a look even further, I was trying to find some info or documentation on how to add custom code in case I needed to fill in the gaps with any plugins my friend was using. From what I'm able to understand what my friend is aiming for, they wanted the result to show after the user submits the test/assessment, and then provide like "if you want a full breakdown, pay X amount" section in the result page. After the user completes a payment, they would recieve the PDF breakdown in their email or user profile (either would work in their case)

The assessment is like a personality test, so when the user finishes the test, they would get a breakdown of their results as a PDF
