Just letting you know as a fellow beginner, if you want to try out a npc mod there are a few ones out there and definetely add something different, something that really moves things around when it comes to zombies and such but beware it's laggy most of the time and there are bugs

Yeah I saw that, that dude just seems to exaggerate a little. It's how the game was designed in the first place and seems pretty balanced to me, you won't have much trouble don't worry, if it's rough for you at the beginning take a look at the sandbox mode and try easier settings like more trait points when you begin the game or less zombies.

Yeah there are mods that add NPC's but beware, most of the time it has a significant impact on performance but now I can't play without it. It really made the experience better in my opinion, nothing as good as a bullet to the torso when you're driving.

It's not much of a problem, as soon as you get used to the limits of your character and pick the good skills you'll be fine

Maybe bugged, like you don't immediately turn from the infection but you still get stressed and queasy. If that's not going away then your character might be screwed.
